The Dolphins signed veteran Keith Heinrich to compete with Jason Rader for the team's No. 3 tight end position behind Randy McMichael and Justin Peelle.
Heinrich, selected by Carolina out of Sam Houston State in the sixth round of the 2002 draft, has appeared in 18 games during four years for the Panthers and Browns and has nine career receptions for 65 yards. He missed last season because of a torn ACL in his right knee.
His signing makes it less likely that Miami would pursue converted tackle Kyle Turley, who had an audition last week.
Miami Herald sportswriter Barry Jackson contributed to this report.

How can they not mention teyo johnson at all? You think the staff thinks of him more as a WR than a 3rd TE?

yea whats the deal with teyo? I liked him alot out of college and thought he would make the team here.

this sucks. i really wanted to sign turley. but the coaaches obviously saw something, or the money wasnt right. I wonder whats going on with marcus vick, besides that some of you dont want him

I agree on the Turley thing. He is tough and I thought Saban would have saw enough to offer him a contract but there must have been something wrong going on.Remember he did have back issues and he does have an attitude issue as well. From what I heard he actuallt caught the ball well.Still time to offer contracts anyways.Maybe Turley thinks he's worth more.On the Vick issue,I must agree with my cohorts in saying that I am against it.Not just for the fact that he is a thug but for the fact that he is not very good.Holland beat him out in camp. That says alot.On Teyo, I have no clue.He was signed at the end of the year and there has been absolutely no hype on it at all.I would never have known that they signed him unless I saw him on the roster on the official website.Wish I could give you more info.I will research it again and post whatever I find on this forum.

Turley has missed part of 3 seasons and all of the last 2 seasons due to his back injuries...I'm sure that he feels he can stay healthy and perhaps he can, but it's not like TE was his position when he was healthy. It's one thing to come back from the injury and another to come back and change positions at the same time. I don't think I've ever seen a guy convert from OL to TE at this level...Usually it's the other way around, but this move is probably evidence that he may have to continue his rehab somewhere else. We needed a bonafide blocking TE and have that with Peele...It's obvious that he isn't satisfied with the #3 TE yet, so this is just a move to do that...

Maybe Teyyo can be an H-Back?

Keith Heinrich - is here to compete or just a training camp body?

It appears that Miami is moving away from the H-back..

and more so to the typical tight end (e.g., release of Holmes and Diamond; signing of Peele). As far as Teyo Johnson, there are mixed opinions on him and some say he doesn't have the work ethic. He looks like a good potential weapon on the goal line, but does not have the great resume. I hope he works out.

Money could also be an issue. This is a veteran who was earning top money as a NFL OL.

Perhaps he has illusions about being paid as a veteran even though he has switched positions.

On the other hand the Dolphins may consider him a project and are not willing to pay him that.
