Not really. The OB had NOTHING to do with the Heisman voting, as the trophy is presented in the middle of December. A couple of other things, NO freshman or soph. has ever won the Heisman, and AD actually ran for around 1850 yards (regular season). While that number is quite impressive, if he'd gone over 2000 I think he would have had a better chance.
This is just blatant hating. While the Pac-10 is not the SEC or Big 10, it is as good or better than the BigXII. I know it stings to have your team be pimp-slapped in the National Championship game, (Alabama did it to my 'Canes back in the day) but your homerism is off the charts. The Big XII has collectively gotten their rear ends handed to them in bowl games over the last 3 years or so. Outside of OU, they have had no perennial power during this time span. The only team that comes close is Texas, and they are perennial underachievers. I'd take Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State and UCLA and match them up against Kansas St., Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, and Nebraska/Colorado over the last few years, and I bet they'd be very similar.
One last thing, concerning Cal. I really have no idea who they have coming back, but you can rest assured they'll be ok at QB. Jeff Tedford is probably the best developer of QB's in college football. They showed a stat last night (during the NFL preseason game) of all of Tedford's QB's that are now in the NFL, and it was staggering. There were like 8 or 9 of them. Many of them are mediocre NFL guys, but were superstars in college. So while he still coaches college, I'll trust that he'll have a pretty good QB out there.
