The Jets have never had as much talent on defense as they do now. Kris Jenkins is a force of nature guys, put your bias aside and look at it purely as a football fan, this guy is monstrous... Harris and Scott (ILB's) are playing possesed. Revis right now is only behind Asomogha in my book as the best corner in the league, he made Andre Johnson look like a chump all game. Rhodes is an above average to big play SS whenever he decides to shut his trap and play. Lito is not very disciplined but he has a nose for the ball and with the way the Jets put pressure he should be in on a lot of balls this year. Ellis, Pace and Thomas are underrated in my opinion and can bring heat on the outside, last but not least Gholston is much better with his hand down as a DE and that's where Rex is playing him, he's looking like a different player already and it won't be long before he starts stringing sacks together, Westerman, Murrell, Trusnik can also bring heat whenever called upon. On paper this is a formidable group, and Rex has them out for blood.
What Miami can do to counter our strengths (anticipating our monday night game here) is to run the ball early and often to set up play action, the wild cat is not fooling anyone and Chad needs to work off a running game. Set up the run first and then use play action/WC/trickeration... not the other way around. That is the only way I can see Miami being succesful against this Jets defense quite honestly, Chad cannot keep checking down or going short against the Jets... run Ricky run or it will get ugly. Miami needs a number one WR in a bad, bad way, they scare no one and teams already have the blueprint on how to stop the WC... Henning has to come up with something else, but Henning is a terrific OC, trust me I know, we had him.
On defense I really like Miami's ends and OLB's; Merling, Langford, Taylor, Porter... They are outstanding and can make it pretty miserable for anyone, much less a precocious rookie like Sanchez. But their interior is weak in my opinion, I think the Jets can run very succesfully against that interior defense. I also don't think much of your secondary, Shaun Smith is lethal in the redzone, but he can be exposed from the 20 to the 20... Will Allen is solid but not spectacular and your safeties can tackle but can't cover no one.
