For as long as I care to remember this team has looked very similar. On offense, we've had a below average QB, pretty good skill players and a terrible line. On defense, we've had a good line with some depth, terrible LB core and below average secondary.

Looks the same year after year. I think Tannehill is average and not the problem. I think Gase is a decent coach and not the problem. Player personnel decisions by multiple regimes have left us in this similar position since when? early 2000's? Since Dan?

Personnel was a problem when Dan was here. Those teams are just as mediocre as the current ones without Marino. Drafting went from bad to worse as Shula got older. Olivadotti was a putrescence.

In my lifetime, Jimmy Johnson is the only person to produce solid drafts on a consistent basis. Free agency worked as well. Too bad he saddled us with Fiedler.

You have to go back to the 70s to see a team clicking on all cylinders.

It’s the same thing year after year, same issues on both sides of the ball. Just boring football. Even though we have different coaches it’s the same thing each year, tired of the excuses.

Offensive line has been a trainwreck since really about 2011. The Marc Colombo season. The Philbin/Ireland/Hickey regime never really addressed the OL at all. The Gase/Grier/Tannenbaum regime has tried, and that's why I have some optimism.

Part of the problem is that in addition to poor OL performance, we have had coaches who want to run a short passing offense. Gase had a lot of success in 2016 when we shifted to an offense that ran the ball more, used play action, and ran deeper pass routes. Well, and the team also cut several underperforming OL and retooled pass protection schemes.

Since Wanny took over for Jimmy.Wanny was terrible. Sent this team on a downward spiral that all but a year here or there, they cant figure a way to get out of it.

The Wanny way was to inherit a good team and get progressively worse each year. Jamar Fletcher, Eddie Moore. I’m sure his drafting at Chicago was just as woeful.

Yes. I do remember a commentator, I dont remember his name but he had to come from Chicago, he said whomever made Wanny their next head coach it would set them back 20 years . I thought it hyperbole but he knew what he was talking about. Not many do.

The Parcells/Sporano teams had a good oline good running game and could control the clock. Couldn't pass worth **** nor score quick.

JJ didn't have anything to do with Fiedler. Wanny's first year was when Marino left and Wanny went and got Jay and destroyed the team from there on. I agree JJ had some very good drafts tho mostly on defense. I don't think he ever hit on a player on offense when he was with us.

Thanks. I always forget about Wanny. I bet I've been corrected on this board about the Fiedler/Johnson thing 10 times. No idea why I gloss over Wanny like that.

hey, people here sometimes forget that we had some horrible drafts under Shula. I know that at one point we got nothing, zero from our first round picks 8 years in a row under Shula. JJ came and built a top defense but the offense never got going. Then Wanny came and got rid of Marino and got us Jay and then traded away a couple of first round picks plus a 2nd for Ricky and that ended our hopes right there. We've had plenty of time to recover but then Tuna came and the drafts under him were horrible and on and on and on

we look same since 2005. avg always missing some player from winning champ....
