Why are so many people excited about Trent Green? He is 37 years old. He is 1 hit away from ending his career. He does not want to compete in KC for a starting job that Herm basiclly said was his. KC has been nothing but loyall to the guy. he has no reason to want out of KC that bad unless he feels that he can not be Huard out. Did anyone stop to think of his motive to want out of KC that bad? I think it is a poor choice. Id rather have Gus back if culpeper knee is no good, and draft a qb for the future. Green is a very very poor choice.

Is there any something that i am missing about trent Green other then the fact that he worked with Cam C before?

If Miami's truly interested in Green, then I suspect it's because neither Mueller nor Cameron think that Daunte Culpepper is going to be Miami's starter. That may be because they share Mike Martz' disdain for DC's ability at the position or because they don't think DC is going to comeback to the form he had in 2004. They may be bringing Green in as 1) a mentor/backup for Cleo Lemon or 2) a stopgap for a year while they groom a QB drafted in 2007 (Quinn or Stanton most likely).

Good call. That about says it all....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

Yeah maybe we can package a couple of picks to get Gus back. The obsession with Green is just offseason madness. Wait til something actually happens before we get screwed up into the ceiling.

I just hate the fact Miami could be giving up a high pick for a player that is on his downside of his career. Another stop gap player Miami doesn't need.

Who says he does not want to compete in KC for the starting job? He didn't want to restructure his contract.

We would not be giving up a high pick for Green. We would be given up the second of our two 7th round draft picks. The one we received from NE in the Welker trade.

High pick? the reports are saying we would give them our 2nd 7th round pick we got from the Patriots.

Exactly. TG does not want to take a major pay cut, period. KC doesn't want to pay him...that is why he is available. I suspect that if Miami get him, they will pay a low (6th or 7th round) draft pick and re-negotiate his deal. Green would give Miami a legitimate starter going into 2007 and would allow fopr drafting a youngster and bringing him along slowly.

I really do not see any downside. Green is not the long-term answer and I'm sure that Cameron & Mueller know this.

Trading a 7th round pick(that is just 4 picks away from being an undrafted FA) is not a "High" draft pick.

From the Miami Herld today:

Miami's interest in Carr is not certain, but with him available, the Dolphins could use that as leverage against Green and the Chiefs. The Texans are asking a first-day draft pick (a second- or third-round pick). The Chiefs had been hoping for similar compensation for Green, although it is believed that price was lowered

The price has been lowered but before the trade of Schaub-KC was asking for a low picks. I don't think it dropped to a 7th.

Who is obessing about Green? I would much rather give up a 7th rounder for Green then multiple picks for Gus. Why would anyone want to do that - b/c he lead us to a 9-7 year? Just look at their numbers, playoff appearences, wins and see who is better. Yes Trent took a hard shot last year but he will be an ok interim QB to groom Cleo, Brady, or Drew. DC now that was the worst decision ever this side of trading for AJ Feely.

If they want to much wait for him to be cut. They cannot carry his 7+ million dollar cap hit THIS YEAR. If he wants to come to Miami then he should be willing to NOT RESTRUCTURE his deal for anyone like Joey did last year. It would put KC behind the 8-Ball and force them to get whatever they can. Trent has to want to be in Miami though.

Trent Green is the more complete QB. Daunte has a high turnover % and fumbles alot of snaps.
