So, with a bunch of you posters so quick to change your emotions every other minute of the day, I figured I'd give you some cold hard facts about one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game.

We all know Peyton Manning struggled his first year. We all know Eli Manning did too. But, let's look at a situation that is eerily similar to the Miami Dolphins.

From Wikipedia:
Brady was thrust into the starter's role on September 23, 2001, during a home game against their AFC East rivals, the New York Jets. In that game, which the Patriots lost, Bledsoe suffered internal bleeding after a collision with Jets linebacker Mo Lewis. Later that week, Brady was named the Patriots' starting quarterback. In his first two games, Brady posted unspectacular passer ratings of 79.6 and 58.7, respectively, in a 44–3 victory over the Indianapolis Colts (in their last season in the AFC East) and a 30–10 loss to the Miami Dolphins.[11] Brady played much better during the rematch at Indianapolis, with a passer rating of 148.3 in a 38–17 win.[11] The Patriots won 11 of the 14 games Brady started, entering the playoffs with a first-round bye. Brady finished with 2,843 passing yards and 4 more touchdowns than Peyton Manning, his rival, with an invitation to the Pro Bowl.

So, what's the point? Through the first four weeks of that 2001 season, the Patriots went 1 - 3. The Dolphins have a shot to start 1 - 3.

I know you can sit here and say that may not happen with the Dolphins. But you can also say that it might happen.

There is hope. Let's see what Henne can do with a week of preparation.

Go Dolphins!

I have no clue how anyone can declare Henne a bust already. I won't pass judgment for at least 4 games. It also makes me sick to see our own fans wanting our own players to fail, pretty stupid.

Folks calling Henne a bust already is just part of knee jerk reaction to a disappointing season. I am as optimistic as any Dolfan can be. But yes the season as far as playing for a post season is over. Henne is thrust into a year before the powers that be wanted it that way. Penny is just accident prone. And yes it may have been the last game he played for us.

Well, the future is here. Henne need better field awareness and needs something to jolt his confidence. The super conservative short passes aren't going to cut it. I know he does not want to risk INTs but he is going to have to hit Ginn deep. Gawd we need a pure number one WR badly. The one thing we have is a good running game. But that is not enough to get this offense going. The passing D is vulnerable and now with the offense going 3 and outs is left on the field too long.

Here is the learning curve being thrown at Mr. Henne. It may not be pretty but there is no such thing as a bust after the first game of meaningful action. Best of luck to him and to our poor Fins. It is needed.

there is a lot of "concern" posted here...hell, believe it when I say that the FO would be crazy to not be "concerned" as well.

BUT, at this point, one would be crazy to call Henne a "bust".

There are many, many games to go before some judgement could be reached

thanks for that man....i think people expected him to get us the win and dominate the chargers like they were high school kids...

Give him time you can site Flacco and Ryan...but Flacco SUCKED his first 5 games and Ryan threw like 12 td's or somethign in 16 games thats not all that impressive

Henne is not a bust. He is unproven.

He will have growing pains & some on this site will no qualms about throwing him under the bus if the vertical passing game doesn't instantaneously appear.

The key to Henne progressing nicely is Fasano.... plain & simple! Nothing helps a young QB's development like a good TE.

Wow, thanks that was really enlightening. Now we can compare ourselves to the best football dynasty in the twenty first century. :ponder:

I agree because although Henne has the arm strength to make long throws, he won't be able to properly read the defenses to do so. And when he finally does his chicken dance arm flap of a release wont get it there in time. TE and RB will be his best friend. Earn that contract Fasano!

I agree with many of the above statements here. It is impossible to pass judgment on henne at this point. We have not even seen him play in a real game besides the debacle he was thrown into this past week. He needs time to get a hold of the offense, create timing with his wide outs and sync with his OLine. These are not things that can be handled with 2 quarters of football they take time. Not only this but going back to a matt ryan. He stepped into a much better situation then Henne is stepping into. The playbook was built around ryan and he had some weapons at WR to help out, Henne doesn't have that benefit of playmaking wide outs and a gameplan around his strengths. After this week the gameplan will at least improve and he will have extra time in practice to create some of the small things that he doesn't have from not taking snaps with the first team.

Please tell me you're not comparing Chad Henne to Tom Brady.

I was about the same thing, because you could say the same thing about Pat White or any other qb who hasn't really played yet.

These comparisons drive me nuts, chad henne is chad henne, not Tom Brady and its up to him to make his name well known for good things.

Henne would be great if he was drafted by the Jets, Ravens or Falcons, the pocket doesn't collapse after 2 seconds, and they have good defenses.
