Henne can't

This is a dumb arguement. I'm in Carolina and I'm telling you this is not a game in which to hang your hat on. The Panthers area a bad, bad, terrible team that will probably pick Luck next year. They are absolutely awful and they'll make any team look pretty darn good.

Henne played well yesterday but he still has no touch on his deep passes... He missed a few!!! I honestly don't like Henne but he showed he could do some things yesterday.. Its possible that it was a bad defense he was going against but i'll give him the benefit of the doubt on that one. But if this offense is built on speed (deep ball) and he can't hit the receiver, whats the point of him being out there?

the lack of football knowledge is very disheartening. Look haters, Henne had a near perfect game, get over it. His whole problem the last 2 years was HENNING. Daboll opened up the offense and look what happened. Go follow another team, we don't need the haters. Learn football or get lost.

First of all, a half does not a near perfect game make. Second, he threw a ball that a good corner turns into a pick 6 no problem, had that been Revis covering I think whole view of Henne's evening would be different. Lastly, it was Carolina...the defending last place team in the NFL, If Henne can't look good against them, he has no shot against REAL opponents. An 87 QB rating is not a near perfect performance.

Henne had a pretty strong half(minus the pass that shouldn't have been thrown), we need him to string together consistent performances of WHOLE games against stronger foes before we assess him a viable quarterback in this league.

Just because your ready to drink the kool aid off a half a game like this one doesn't mean more discerning fans have to partake, not when Henne has played the way he did the last two years and the way he played against Atlanta. This was a nice half.....now lets see more!

Actually in 2 years he's worse than 8-8, he's 13-14. However that's still a helluva lot better than the guy most of his haters have been slurping, Kyle Orton.. who's 10-17 over that same time period, had a sub 60QBR in the 4th qtr last season and a career 60.8QBR on 3rd down plays ..despite padding his stats in garbage time. Hell, even more Denver fans want him gone than Miami fans do Henne.

The point is that pathetically, if Ireland had let Denver bend him over to overpay for true fools gold -someone who rarely shows up when it matters, and he just happened to put in a performance like Henne's last night, all the HenneRainmen would be wetting their pants.

Ok, but you are being disenjenous if you can't acknowledge that Henne's record is only close to .500 because our defense won many of the games we did win, including upsetting Green Bay and Minnesota.

Orton's defense in Denver was bad(32nd ranked).

I'm watching the game right now on replay and I will say this about Henne's play. This has NOTHING to do with him playing the Panthers. He has shown accuracy and decisiveness. On slant patterns the balls were hitting the receivers in stride, between the numbers.

You could see when he dropped back he was going through his progression. That in itself I enjoyed more then anything else. Again, those are the issues he struggled with last season and while it is one game those were things I was pleased to see.

Sucks there are so many posters here that are quick to take credit away for anything the Dolphins or Henne does.

Now, the whole offense, needs to show consistency. In the next game will be very telling of that.

Dude, we just want to see much better consistency out of this kid, did you watch the Atlanta game the week before? Did you watch the last two seasons of Henne?

Does a half against Carolina wipe that out......not for me....I expect more from an NFL QB.

I don't think *anyone* is arguing that. But progress was shown, and you can't seem to admit that.

exactly, the point of this thread is not that one half erases two years, it's that he is doing things that we've been told "he can't" do.
it's simple diversion to discredit his performance by saying "the Panthers are a bad team".
it doesn't matter who they're playing when he makes a pre-snap read and audibles out of a bad situation. the fact is he did things we haven't seen in the past two years.
whatever your opinion is on Henne, you should acknowledge the facts

Well then you are not reading my posts, I said he had a pretty strong half.....an 87 QB rating(good not great)....no touchdowns but no picks(although the one throw should never have been thrown and easily could have been a pick 6). I said he had a decent half, but that is not enough evidence to suggest he has become a consistent quarterback.

I have seen him play well before, we all know he can play well, the problem has always been consistency. And a half does not prove it.

John Beck had a nice half last nite against the Colts...he had a 101 QB rating and led 4 scoring drives....are you ready to drink his kool aid?

If you're going to mention that an incompletion could've easily been a pick-6, you should also mention he had almost 3 TDs in long passes...

He didn't have a "decent" half. He had a great half. You're welcome to discredit it as much as you'd like, but he had a great half of football.

I agree it's not enough evidence to suggest he has become a consistent quarterback. I don't see how anyone could even try to make that statement.

Beck also had a great game last night (at least from what I can make from the statline).

That's about as simple as it can get.

Again no one has said Henne can't have a good half....an 87 rating 0 TD's, 0 picks is not a great half. A great half is 130 or higher rating with 3 TDS and no picks.

And the things HE CAN'T do are thing s he's shown consistently that he doesn't do. I still saw him locking into receivers to much last night, not every defense makes him pay for it.

Seriously, throw some TDs son. When it counts too.

Henne can't audible, Henne can't play out of the shotgun, Henne can't play action, Henne can't run. This is all I heard from the basher circle jerk club. They wanted to blame him for the obvious short comings of Hennings offense. He did all of this tonight and looked comfortable doing it.

Glee club analysis, little to do with real football. I saw gaping holes, no pass rush, & little coverage from Carolina. Carolina is Div II. But hey, so are we. Its a start & we're all happy.

Would be nice if he can do it against our next 2 half-decent opponents ... but the real test is the NFL Season (gack!!) ....soon NE comes a-knockin'. I just want to see a good, solid showing ... then I'll get a little faith & some cred.

You do realize that Vick locked into receivers too when he played Pitt right??

The point is, Henne showed progress on things he struggled with last season. While nobody is claiming we are superbowl bound now it is refreshing to see these things out of him. Unfortunately, you can see the pain it causes some posters here to say anything positive about Henne.

All I am saying is if Henne can show in the next game consistency to what he did yesterday that is a great thing for us. You don't have to look further then in our own division to see what consistent QB play could do to a team that has a QB that doesn't put up jaw dropping stats.

Henne didn't have a great game. His performance is a mirage because that's how bad he has been. He had a good game that he committed no turnovers. He looked a lot more confident and his pocket awareness was good. Branden Marahall stated he has taken command of the huddle. All good signs but let's see what happens next week at Tampa.
