Henne can't

You kool-aid drinkers are ridiculous. No one has said he couldn't EVER do any of those things. It's been clear from day 1 that the conversation has been about he "can't do those things" ON A CONSISTENT ENOUGH BASIS. Have you ever heard the expression "even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then?" He's been the same his entire career so far. Great game, lousy game. Good game, bad game. He did some good things against a terrible team last night ... Bless his heart ... but he's got to do this more often and against better teams. Until then, he sucks.

And let me just add, if any of you think I get pleasure out of Henne playing bad you are mistaken. I spent good money buying a Henne Jersey last year at the Jets game. Does that really sound like someone who doesn't want him to succeed? How many of you have forked out the money for a Henne jersey? I don't normally do that until a player proves himself, but I really wanted to believe in his future.

So please lose the childish notion that any Dolphin fan wants Henne to fail.

Good post, I also wonder if some of these guys are rooting for Henne to fail. He played well, we won, enjoy it. Give the guy a friggin' chance. He IS our QB.
WTF is the point of all arguing? Can't people just enjoy a win as Phin fans regardless of whether or not it matters, or who we played, or yada yada yada. Jesus ****ing christ it's obnoxious. It's sad to see how depressing people get after a win. The game was pointless, but it's Dolphins football. I love watching OUR team hitting on all cylinders against a team we are supposed to destroy. When was the last time that happened; even in preseason. Appreciated it for what it is... a game where the Phins played well. Enjoy it. Who cares about the circumstances. Man, sometimes I really can't help but to wonder if some fans on this site are hoping the Dolphins fail. Luckily it's not the majority of posters; just a few select opinionated downers.

I give Henne props for putting together a great half against a defense he should be able to torch. Daboll schemed to Henne's strengths. It was a fun thing to watch. Let's hope this can transfer to the season.

Again no one has said Henne can't have a good half....an 87 rating 0 TD's, 0 picks is not a great half. A great half is 130 or higher rating with 3 TDS and no picks.

And the things HE CAN'T do are thing s he's shown consistently that he doesn't do. I still saw him locking into receivers to much last night, not every defense makes him pay for it.

Wow, so 3 TDs in a half or it's not great?

Lofty standards right there...

So you're blind then?

- "Henne can't throw against zone, only man"
- "Henne can't read the field"
- "Henne can't audible"

If you're trying to say that the "consistently" is implied, I call BS. It's usually being bandied about with such authority, you'd think these people watch every single play of every game and compare it with every single play in the NFL. Which is obviously not the case. YOU might've meant "consistently", but if you're not STATING it, you can't expect people to assume so. Particularly when you're just piling on criticism.

As for the second comment... shows a lot about your impartiality. So unless he's great he sucks? Simply no room for improvement towards great?

The team is improving the onus on the fans that want to strart a do over revolve around the QB position. Ok while I can buy that into the extent if the QB was the only player on the team then I could go along but this is about more than one position. You start over with a whole new bunch of guys running the front office and they even if they get that QB I certainly hope that we win like all these seers claim whom know it all. Listen I loved watching Marinio and Shula but for those of you who were around the problem was the running game and defense all those years. These same fans were the same fans back then many of them wanting to even trade Marinio for that magic bullet that was missing.

Chad Henne played pretty well last night just as I detailed in the thread I stated with that title.

Having said that, Chad Henne ****ing blows.

Certainly its about more than one position....however, this one position is the single most important position in all of team sports. It starts with finding the right guy behind center or your going nowwhere.

These guys have blown opportunities to draft quality quarterbacking, and so far the jury would still say it doesn't look good for the guys they have drafted. If they can't find it within themselves to find a top notch QB they will fail as this game is about winning, and to the single most important factor to winning is quarterbacking. Marino didn't have good defenses or running games, but he still was one of the winningest QB's in NFL HISTORY.

I'm not suggesting you don't want great defense or a good running game, I'm simply pointing out that you can have all that, just as Wannstedt found out before this regime, and if you don't find a championship caliber QB you will fail.

Trying to get by with mediocre quarterbacking, choosing to spend high draft picks on O-lineman over the quarterback position will get you run out of this league.

Well lets take a look at that:
<SNIP>

No, no. Don't change the subject. I'll quote you again:

A great half is 130 or higher rating with 3 TDS and no picks.

You have mighty high standards for what "great" entails. Plus, you didn't say "good". In your own words:

I said he had a decent half, but that is not enough evidence to suggest he has become a consistent quarterback.

Please don't try to weasel out of quotes I can easily obtain. Want to settle on "good", fine by me. But don't demerit what he did by calling it "decent".

Hilarious, since what you're criticizing is basically the Pittsburgh Steelers blueprint, the one used by the oh-so-revered Bill Cowher.

I watched the game today on NFL Network...

He did hit a couple of slants in stride and that play to Fasano was nice as were his scrambles.

That said, he is still a ONE read QB (i.e. Primary read or check down), does not see the field well, predetermines where is is going with the ball presnap, and has ZERO deep ball accuracy.

These are irrefutable facts and as such, Henne will never be anything more than a spot starter and career backup.

He will get Sparano fired this year unless our D plays like the 00 Ravens or 02 Bucs.

And how did Cowher do until he spent a number one pick and found Roethlisberger? Thats when he finally won a championship......not before when he tried to get by with mediocre QB's....only after he found a franchise QB.

Ok I follow your logic now! Here is a analogy are you ready?

I am a airline pilot I have amassed thousands and thousands of hours safely flying passengers to their destinations world wide. Now tomorrow I go out and fly a flawless flight I mean never a bump! Except right before landing j misjudge the crosswind and the airplane cart wheels down the runway bursting into flames killing everyone. I am still a good pilot right? after all in 99% of my crosswind landings I was good. Is only one bad landing enough evidence?

Did you just compare a 99% completion rate of a QB (which would be godly like) to a pilot killing 100 people?
