Am I the only one that finds themselves screaming "THROW IT!!" whenever Henne holds onto the ball too long back there??

I personally would prefer him to throw an INT, 40 yards down field every once in awhile (especially on 3rd and long) instead of taking ANOTHER sack

Does he ever get hit, just after he throws?? I don't recall it once. He's either all by himself, running for his life, or sacked...

Don't get me wrong, I really want Henne to kick ***...but he RARELY throws it away. He needs to learn you need to throw the ball into stands every once in awhile. JUST GET RID OF IT...PLEASE!!!

You're right. He needs to learn to throw it away. And he will. It was his fourth game as a starter. Give him some time please.

Honestly, I dont believe that Henne consistently holds onto the ball for too long. Of course there have been instances, as with most young QB's.

And while I wouldn't mind a few more deep passes, you have to remember that the coaching staff really stresses smart, mistake free football. It may not be sexy, but I'll take a 5 yard dump pass completion over a 40 yard interception every time.

Go back and watch some of his earlier starts, especially the previous Jets game and you'll see him stand in the pocket and take a hit to complete a pass.

Henne got a lot of coverage sacks last game and didnt know what to do with it, another thing I noticed, it seemed he was only working one side of the field.. like if he wasn't going through all his progressions or looking back at other receivers. I think Haynos was open or could of been a option for a check down in some of those sacks. Then again I have never been chased by a couple of 300 pounds men trying to decapitate me.

I actually dont want him to throw when he sits back there too long. Usually when a QB hesitates then throws late it ends in a pick. It has always made me very nervous. I love it when a QB drops back makes a quick read then throws it with purpose. Always makes me feel like something good is about to happen.

are you stupid? The WR's cant get open downfield. thats why he always is checking it down. He looks for the deep ball on almost every possession but noone is open so he's not gonna throw it up just for fun.

No, but you have to chuck it into the first row if nothing is open and you have the time. The QB cannot consisently take 7 yard losses and expect to lead the offense to scores. This is Henne's biggest downfall so far IMO, poor pocket presence, happy feet, whatever you want to cal it.

You're right on, chambers runs clean routes to the outside, but then this thread would not exist, there will be one calling for Chamber's head for droping all those passes..

Wanting him to get an INT over a sack is crazy talk. I understand what you mean but... taking the confidence level of the QB in mind, mentally him taking a sack is much less damaging than throwing an INT if theres a choice. The best solution is to provide him with a true 1 and 2 WR or throw it away.

Young QB's will do this espcially a QB in the Parcells system. A sack is much better then any interception EVER! I am not worried about this yet, he is young and still learning to read the D and hit is hot routes. In time he wil make more check down throws and get the ball out of bounds.

Ben Roethlisberger is another QB with a high sack rate he holds on to the ball to make something happen and he was criticized for the same thing his rookie year.

Growing pains, in due time.

another thing I noticed, it seemed he was only working one side of the field.. like if he wasn't going through all his progressions or looking back at other receivers.

That's because Revis was playing that side of the field!!

are you kidding? take the sack. a loss of 5 is always better than a pick.
Henne is doing incredibly well for his first 4 games. they are scoring like Marino is in there and with surprisingly few mistakes. he loses patience at times and may have trouble finding an open receiver, but these things will come. Henning was right, this guy is every bit as good as Ryan or Flacco.
