As I watched the game i began to notice something coming into the end of the game. Henne passes the ball much better out of the shotgun. I do not know if you guys noticed but he was working wonders in the shotgun, not checking the ball down as much and just plain throws the ball better out of the shotgun. Something I've felt all along about our offense is that we choose to snap the ball under center all the time even on 3rd and long.

He definately needed that shotgun today more because the texans were getting some ridiculous pressure on henne and he had no time to even go through his progressions on some plays. I wish our coaching staff could possibly pick this up and use it instead of playing ultra conservative the entire game in the play calling.

i agree and if you see in the 1st half he was barely in the shotgun, younger Qb's usually do better in shotgun because they get a better read of the defense and have a bit more time to react...

We should stick with the passing game and be a passing team with a good defense. This is too much of a passing league now.

I think you put a good defense on this team and they easily have 3-4 more wins. This year it has been the D that has let the team down, the offense but up points against the colts, saints, patriots, jets etc.

Very true. The big plays have killed us.

Henne in the Shotgun ... Rarely happens and its frustrating. So many times were 2nd, 3rd and long and he's right behind C. I have been noticong ths all year, terrible...

i love in a 3rd and 12 or so we come out with 1 Wr sets. sometimes dan henning really makes me sit back and laugh and just wonder how this guy has a job. he does realize we dont have pennington back there anymore. i also love that henne threw the ball 55 times today and completed 35. considering the circumstance that they were playing way back in coverage and not looking at the run at all thats pretty darn good. over 300 yards too

HEY! I see a couple people are getting what I have been screaming about all year. The 1WR, 2TE set OMG it is friggin junk! Not to mention on obvious passing downs we aren't putting Henne in the shotgun more. The Shotgun gives a young QB a couple extra second to read and survey the defense.

also i think we have been horrible in running a hurry up offense all year. sometimes i wonder if they even practice it cause it don look like it

This is a glaring problem that needs to be corrected. Sometimes I wonder if the coaching staff is to damn arrogant to make changes that work instead of trying to force things that don't

another good thread ,and fair posts.why would anyone play action,on 3rd down on passing plays with a young qb.defense's add db's somtimes 7 or 8,or attack with blitzs from every where.why make a young qb take his eye's off the defense at all?do we think the qb can hold the lb's with the fake?come on.great question superblammoboy

How about in obvious passing downs I still see play action fakes...I think that gets me the most
