After analyzing yesterday's game in greater detail, I come away feeling really good about our QB. When you factor in the drops all season, and the pressure induced interceptions, Henne's decision making and accuracy is astounding.
He had three interceptions right? Two of them were the result of getting hit while throwing. The one to Brian Hartline that was underthrown was underthrown because Henne was getting hit. The point is, that was a good decision, just got disrupted by the Buffalo defense which was getting past our SECOND string Center.
The out pattern to Bess that was intercepted was a legitimate bad decision. Henne felt the pressure and threw it too fast. The tipped ball interception was probably a bad decision but we don't know if the receiver should have stopped or not. Remember that Henne is starting to get the timing and instincts down of his receivers (how good was the TD throw to Hartline in the first half?).
What I'm excited about is the fact that Henne is a good decision maker with a great arm. Most of the mistakes he's making now come as the result of poor protection (not an excuse, but definitely a factor). If Grove is in there on two of those ints, Henne completes one of them for a big gain, the other probably falls incomplete.
I am eccstatic about the guy we have. He's going to be better than Flacco or Ryan eventually. When we get him some real receiving firepower he's going to be great. Incidentally, how many different receivers have caught touchdowns from Henne? It has to be more than either Ryan or Flacco.
Sperry, Hartline, Bess, Polite, Haynos, Ginn, Fasano, Brown, Williams, Camarillo, Some lineman I don't recall his name right now...
Just wait until the kid gets a true tight end, and a legitimate number one and two receiver.
Sky's the limit.
The future looks bright Dolphans!
