Although my partner and seemingly every NFL exec at the Combine has grown in love with Delaware quaterback Joe Flacco, it seems that the Dolphins are focusing their ardor on Michigan quarterback Chad Henne as their potential second-round pick.
My sources say that the Dolphins haven't made any contact with Flacco since checking him out at the Senior Bowl and Combine, while a radio interview by Henne with ESPN-760 host Evan Cohen indicates he could be the pick at No. 32 - if he's still there.
"They wanted to know my character, what I am as a person, as a player,'' Henne told Cohen. "[We went] through what I know, how I go about myself during the game and off the field. So, I've had good contact with them.''
Last week Dolphins quarterbacks coach David Lee and national scout Ron Labadie dined with Henne before attending his Pro Day the next day. Henne said they have another scheduled dinner with him next Tuesday in Ann Arbor, and possible a private workout on Wednesday.
The nearly 6-3, 226-pound Henne is not as mobile or as large as the 6-6 Flacco and is more of a pocket passer, so he will need more developing. Because the Dolphins offensive line is a work in progess, expect John Beck and Josh McCown to battle it out this year while developing a young quarterback such as Henne.
Stay tuned.

The great thing about all this is everyone is throwing something against the wall and waiting to see what sticks. I can't wait for all the I Told You So threads after the draft.

I could see it. Especially because a lot of people think Flacco may actually be gone by the time pick #33 rolls around.

I wouldn't hate it, but I would rather wait til our later 2nd rounder to take Henne if he is there. If he's not, I would not mind waiting until the 4th to get someone like Erik Ainge.

no to henne, my hatred as an ohio state fan runs deep lol

I disagree, if Tony Sparano and Ireland are confident that McCown and Beck can handle the QB position this season I don't see them drafting a QB in any round.

Is there any doubts left in anyone's mind that BP does not think John Beck is MIA's franchise QB????

This should all but completely dismiss anyone's doubts into believing that BP has any confidence in beck...that BP thinks beck is the franchise QB....that BP does not have a high opinion of john beck.

think about it. they asked beck has BP given you a sign of confidence? Beck answered: "NO", "they haven't told me anything other than hello, how are you...and, today, we are signing Josh McCown...and there "WILL" be an "OPEN" competition at QB this season."

This plus the fact that BP has been scouting "hard"...Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, and Chad Henne. These are "ALL" FIRST DAY QBs.

If BP had any confidence in john beck, he would either "not" draft a QB this year....or at most draft one in the second day....but, NO! He is scouting the 1st rounder, Matt Ryan....and two late 1st/early 2nd rounders in Flacco and Henne.

Please, please! Let all the doubts be quelmed. John Beck does suck, as he showed....and BP isn't putting all his cards in him either....as some of those chris long fanatics think...

 I can't wait till draft day. These Matt Ryan lovers are killing me.

When you take a dump do think that's a sign BP hates Beck ? When you hit all red lights is that a sign BP has no confidence in Beck ? You seem to take everything that happens in life and turn it into a Beck sucks theory. That dump you took, it's just poop. All those red lights you hit, just bad timing. All the players BP/JI scout, just doing their job.

The truth is that none of us have a clue what's going on & that is excellent news.

We are just forcing the hand of other teams, by showing a lot of interest in ryan we are trying to force Atlanta to give up a 2nd rd pick to get up there to #1, by showing interest in Flacco and Henne, other low 2nd rd teams may give up picks to get to #32. I personally feel like Beck is a Parcells type QB, Smart, good arm strength and accurate. Just needs a little coaching and a good line and a stable of RBs, so far we got 2 out of 3. Other teams teed off on Beck last year cause we lost ronnie and chatman was not as good as we thought. They were blitzing every down and our line looked worse because of it. Once we sure up that offensive line Beck will be the Phil Simms of 2008

Yes, there are doubts. I think that Beck is Parcell's guy. If you think that Bbeck sucks, then you're probably focusing on his struggles playing as a rookie for a truly lousy team. I find your opinion to be short sided. Beck is a very skilled QB- if he screws up this year then maybe a post like this will be of some merit. I see nothing wrong with picking up a talented guy like Hene in the 2nd round- though I would hope for #57, not #32. That pick should be destined for OT help if we don't grab JLong at #1.
