By all accounts Chad Henne has been working his but off in the off season to get better.
And he should being this is a contract year for him.

Considering this is the last year of a 4 year $3.5 Million dollar contract, he has a chnace to make a lot more of Stephen Ross's money.

If he fails this year he is probably done as a starter in Miami and possibly everwhere else.
That means he could stay in the league as a backup for the next 4-6 years and possible make $5-10 Million for his entire pro career. Not exactly chump change to us but not very good for a QB in the NFL.

If he is successful this year (I would say a winning record would accomplish that) then he would be a free agent and could be looking at being franchised by Miami or possibly landing a $30-50 Million contract. That contract could lead to others down the road as starter and even more money.

So in a nutshell his performance this year could determine whether he makes $5-10M as a Pro or $50-100M.

He definitely has something to play for this year.

I sure hope he gets it right.

I can only imagine what this place would be like if Henne had a good season and got a $50 million deal from the Dolphins. Ho-ly ****, would that be funny.

Henne: Jeff are you going to use the franchise tag on me?Ireland: Hahahahahaha, one question is your mother a whore?

IF ,and this is a big IF, Chad Henne throws for 30+ TDs with less than 15 INTs, you wouldn't franchise him, or at least try to resign him?
smh...if Henne got those no.'s,I would do what Cleveland should have did with Derek Anderson, and trade him to the highest bidder while his stock was high.

If those are Chad's numbers, with our D, there is a very good chance that the Fins make ALOT of noise in the playoffs! At that point all bets are off.

Good idea. Trade a guy who showed flashes of potential before and once he reaches that potential, trade him. We've been looking for a QB since 99, and once we get a QB who plays at a Pro Bowl level you would want to trade him. I would say this is one of the most asinine posts ever. The sadder thing is that someone agrees with it (who it is doesn't really surprise me). I would resign him and if he Derek Anderson's it so be it at least for once we weren't scared to take a chance.

So we should sign a probable one hit wonder to a 4/5 year 50-60 million contract (minimum) garaunteeing half of it? If this was to ever bode true, and Henne had a breakout year, all indication point to him being exactly what Derek Anderson was.

Henne will be out of football next year
