Henne struggles in Tuesday practice

one thing that might help henne this year though is it sounds like we are gonna be in shotgun a lot so henne won't be turning his back on the field very much...henne's another one of those qbs that needs to see the field as much as possible...you turn his back on the field and then make him turn and make quick decisions with the ball and read coverages properly you get forced throws...

i'm hoping this o is more a benefit to him in that regard...i don't want to see a bunch of damn back to the field play action where the lbs are just dropping into throwing lanes

I wouldn't be surprised if the "rulebook" on what Henne is and isn't good at will change a little with the new offensive coordinator.

Henne was good at beating blitzes in 2009 and 2010. Part of that was because Henning gave him the tools to block those blitzes and get the extra time he needed to hit soft coverage. If Daboll is moving the offense to be more aggressive, fewer blockers, more routes, you may find that things completely flip on Henne...he's now terrible when blitzed and better when facing coverage.

Just a thought.

Another bad fan!

Bingo.

As Dave Hyde says, we need to stop making every single Chad Henne practice into a referendum. I can only imagine every single game itself is going to be doubly worse, though.

yea but just as Vaark would say it could be much worse with kyle orton at Qb because he sucks so bad lol

I would like you to research the Henne interview when he says " I don't like the shotgun!"

i don't care if he likes it or not...he sucks on play action...can't read the field worth a crap...he better get used to liking shot gun or get used to working a 9 to 5

Did anybody actually read the play by play, because while i did see that he had a few bad throws, I also read like a dozen dropped balls throughout the entire day so a few had to be on henne throws, but hey we are bashing a guy for a some (NOT ALOT) of bad throws lets not look at the whole picture.

Lets also ignore that DT seems to be getting a hang of this and busted several nice runs and looked very good at finding lanes and making his cuts, Grigsby also made several good plays today both catching and running not to mention Pouncey seems to be getting better each day even saw a few posts siad he was able to drive Soliai off the ball and move him around and def held his ground all day plus Henne did throw several TD passes and no INT's but who cares LETS TALK ABOUT INCOMPLETE PASSES!!!

I really like the idea of Henne working out of the gun more this season. He seems to have such a comfort level in the shotgun, plus like others have mentioned, Henne isn't a guy I want taking his eyes of the field and that playaction when he turns his entire back to the field was always a head scratcher to me. I love hearing him having good practices but I also like hearing Daboll getting on Henne for making mistakes. It isn't that easy, and Henne shouldn't get to comfortable . . . throw different coverages at him, make Henne work for everything . . . it is practice and this is the time to work out all the kinks.

I honestly think we will see a better Chad Henne this season . . . the bigger question will be "how much better". It is going to be nice to see him on Friday . . . just for little stuff like playaction, slants, maybe see how his deep ball is looking this year . . . not really concerned too much with numbers at this stage . . . just want them to go out and execute the new offense.

Oh god do you really want to get me started on his tunnel vision and inability to read the field and progression? I am trying to be positive here Hoops!

hes having an inconsistent training camp. a confusing one and he has no
competition pushing him.

REALLY? matt moore is giving him all he can handle and is making big plays in 7 on 7, 11 on 11 and redzone plays chucking multiple td's in most practices. he has some REAL competition in moore weather people like him or not. the kid has a pention for big plays at the right time and he has been showing that in camp.

plus, he does all the things right that henne doesnt, hitting guys in the back of the endzone, deep outs and slants. hitting guys that go to a open spot in zone coverage and sit and henne throws it to the left or far right so the guy has to come off his sit and stretch for the ball in an awkward way usually ending in an incompletion. saw henne do that WAY to much last year!!!!

moore will be a factor this year and make NO mistake, henne has a hot breath on the back of his neck and he knows it.

if this is who we have i am rooting for both even though i wanted an upgrade for henne. if he finally "gets it" this year and moore is the qb he was in 2009 and not the 2010 injured version, we will have something and that is GREAT for all of us.

does the name on the jersey really matter? it sure seems like it to a lot of guys on the finz boards as the REAL hatred is all over matt moore and i bet most of the nay sayers havnt seen one complete game of his. his just isnt orton or another "name" they are familiar with and only are lookinng at his 2010 accomplishments. i think we have been passed a REAL find in moore. hey, when is the last time you have heard of a miami BACKUP throwing 2 or three td's in every practice? heck, we cant get that out of starters in past years! and he does it with first and second string guys in redzone and 2 minute drills, things that have been a real bugga-boo for us in camps and games for YEARS!! that alone is exciting and brings some hope.

but, i know this the finz and the carpet can be yanked out from under us at any moment, the curtain drawn back to reveal the ugly ogre that has been hiding behind it. time will tell. but again, thinking henne has no comeptition is WAY off base as he is seeing first hand moore doing many things WELL that henne struggles at. and henne has had the playbook since day one of dabol, before the strike. moore just got it a week ago. and he is hanging with henne all the way.

thats competition.
