I was having a conversation with a coworker and he is a big Mich guy and is saying all we need now is QB and should get Henne. I also have seen some people on here calling for Henne to be drafted. So I was looking into some of Henne's stats and I know stats arent everything but they are what they are.

Henne
828 of 1387 59.8% for 9715 yds with 87 TDs and 37 ints in 47 games at Mich. A career passing rating of 91.1

Beck
885 of 1418 62.4% for 11,021 yds with 79 TDs and 34 ints in 43 games at BYU. A career passing rating of 141.29

I am a Beck supporter and hope he does well. I prefer we address other needs high in the draft instead of picking up Henne. I think the stats speak for themselves.

College stats are "somewhat" irrelevent. Marino's College stats pale next to Becks as well, Beck played in the WAC against inferior defenses.

Just look at all the BYU QB's with huge college numbers, Hawaii is getting that way too....Tommy Chang, Colt Brennen.........

If Beck were in this years draft he would go ahead of Henne. Thats why the Fins arent going to touch Henne with a 10ft pole.

We won't draft Henne or any other QB, unless it is after round 4. Beck is better than all of them so why would the dolphins draft a backup with a second round pick. Too many other needs. Besides, by drafting Jake Long that tells you that our personnel staff thinks Beck is better than Ryan, who is considered the best of the draft.

I agree that the stats are as you say"somewhat" irrelevent, and the WAC is a little more inferior. But its not like all there games were against lower tier teams. Henne played against a lot of inferior teams as well. I hope we don't touch Henne. I just believe Beck needs the chance.

I'm not anti-Beck, but my point was don't use stats piled up in the WAC as an argument that Henne is not good enough to draft.

Ultimately, it won't matter what you or I think of Henne or Flacco etc etc, it will matter what the Triumverate thinks of these QB's, and how comfortable they are resting all their eggs in Becks basket.

I think you'll see another young QB drafted to compete with Beck if they drop to us, or, if were able to move up to where we need to be to get one.

Do you think that it means the The Trio has less confidence in Becks ability if they draft a QB that early or they just want someone to challenge Beck in TC? Flacco, I always thought he would be a phase and wouldnt be really consider. I have not watch any of him, what qualitys do you feel would make a decent or good QB?

henne had the best oline is the leauge ancored by jake long, a great runningback-hart and sick WR's- Manningham nad Arrington and stil sucked. beck however led his team while having no one to work with on both sides of the ball. the more realistic comparison would be beck vs. Ryan., where i still think beck wins

I watched most of Beck and Chad Henne's college games, and I would still take Beck. Beck stood out a lot more to me than Henne did.

That's the issue exactly. Henne had more offensive talent year in and out than any other quarterback in the NCAA in the last two years. But in the late season, Michigan never came close to challenging for a title and only won their single bowl game in an emotional display after their coach was fired. (Okay, "retired.") There's only so much of that you can blame on Lloyd Carr. Successful quarterbacks in the NFL overachieve in college. Every single time. There is not a starting NFL quarterback out there who did not exceed expectations in college and don't you dare bring up AJ Feely. Everyone seems to forget, this guy was nearly benched for a freshman this year. And for good reason. The freshman's numbers weren't all that different from Henne's.

Now all that aside, I don't think he's a terrible quarterback. He can make some nice throws, and he can do it under pressure as well. But he can make some really stupid ones at the same time, and I just don't think that's a guy you take in the second round, especially not with a pick that's practically a first rounder.

to be fair, Michigan's passing playbook had 4 plays for Henne.
1.Throw it up to Braylon Edwards
2.Throw deep to Mario Manningham
3.Lateral to Steve Breaston
4.Dump off to the TE.

Whenever they opened the playbook for Henne, he performed much better.

I think the trio would like to have two young prospects, and a Young Vet in place.

I think they like Beck, but are unsure if he has "it", and don't want to put all their eggs in his basket.

Yes, I think they want another young guy to challenge Beck, and I don't think they feel bound to stick with CAMRAN's picks.

This is the beginning of a rebuild, the O-line will be built this year, so getting your young QB's all in and developing is the way to best ensure you have at least one bonafide QB in a year or two from now when this team is ready to start winning.

Flacco, has great height at 6'6", is very athletic for his size, ran a very good forty, very mobile, and has a rocket arm. I personally think he is the target.
