Henne's Value

i agree. What most ppl are pointing out tho is that he is still a work in progress and is certainly not a sure thing.

Seriously... I could not be HAPPIER with the QB situation right now... A savvy vet at the top of his game with a solid young prospect waiting in the wings to push/replace him whatever the situation calls for... Even the addition of White adds a lil spice to it...

What a difference from just a year ago...

What are you guys talking about......Chad Henne is way overrated. Did you see the interception he threw in a preseason game? Chad is a bust, we really need to cut him NOW and get a real QB. :)

he underthrew Wilford... he totally had to slow down to make that play.

I am actually somewhat worried. I'm worried that both Chad Henne and Pat White could be successful starting NFL QBs and we only have room for 1. Geesh. This one gets categorized under Good Problem, right? Like having Dirk Diggleridus?

the real question isnt about henne, its about pennington. If pennington stays up right all season and keeps us in games, then next year gets really fuzzy. Do we sign him back? Is he willing to sign a contract knowing he'll be a backup sooner or later? I do remember reading something last year about Penny saying he wanted to finish his career here, so we'll see.

Agreed but what a great problem to have... Here's hoping Penny has a season like last or better and Tony S is put in this VERY difficult conundrum.

No worries mate. I'm sure we have our eye on a QB right now that we can grab in the 2nd round next year. :hi5:

I think the only way Henne or White or anyone other 2nd rounder we pickup should be the starter is if they can come into the organization and take the job away from everyone else.

speaking of qb's, Geathers beat Kaczur & cracked Brady hard to the turf earlier tonight but he's ok. They got Chung in late 4th mop up duty, lol.

Henne basically looked good last preseason. Beck looked just as good or maybe better in his rookie preseason. So, how much does that count? We know Henne has a strong arm. He has confidence in himself. That is about it. He had one good drive in a real game. Even Beck had a few of those.

So, we know about as much about what we have in Henne as we did in Beck last year maybe even less. Having a pro arm and other NFL traits doesn't guarantee success. Until a QB can play well over the course of at least a half season or more, they will be a question mark.

I think we know what we have in Penny. But, we need to give Henne some significant playing time this year before Penny leaves as a FA. And I doubt he stays as a backup unless he plays himself into that role this year.

How was it that the QB that this regime cut this offseason looked better than any of the 3 they kept in the first preseason game?

I sure hope Henne proves them right long term though. I have very little hope in White as a pro QB. He might make some plays in the Wildcat. But, I just don't see a pro QB there.

It's amazing how some of the same Miami fans who see a pro QB in White, couldn't see ANY potential in Beck.

If Penny leaves and Henne busts, we will be in the same place as year's past.

And the fact is, at this point no one knows how Henne will pan out really.
