Henne basically looked good last preseason. Beck looked just as good or maybe better in his rookie preseason. So, how much does that count? We know Henne has a strong arm. He has confidence in himself. That is about it. He had one good drive in a real game. Even Beck had a few of those.
So, we know about as much about what we have in Henne as we did in Beck last year maybe even less. Having a pro arm and other NFL traits doesn't guarantee success. Until a QB can play well over the course of at least a half season or more, they will be a question mark.
I think we know what we have in Penny. But, we need to give Henne some significant playing time this year before Penny leaves as a FA. And I doubt he stays as a backup unless he plays himself into that role this year.
How was it that the QB that this regime cut this offseason looked better than any of the 3 they kept in the first preseason game?
I sure hope Henne proves them right long term though. I have very little hope in White as a pro QB. He might make some plays in the Wildcat. But, I just don't see a pro QB there.
It's amazing how some of the same Miami fans who see a pro QB in White, couldn't see ANY potential in Beck.
If Penny leaves and Henne busts, we will be in the same place as year's past.
And the fact is, at this point no one knows how Henne will pan out really.
