▪ Jakeem Grant. Cordrea Tankersley called him the Dolphins’ toughest receiver to cover downfield and the Dolphins’ decision to move him from the slot to boundary last offseason continues to pay dividends.

“When you first see him, you’re going to label him a slot, because everyone sees that,” Loggains said. “He is a long-striding, explosive athlete. Very much the case of a guy like in Atlanta, Chicago and we had in Cleveland – Taylor Gabriel. He’s a long-striding, explosive player. So, he has the ability to play on the outside and be good there. He can change the game in one snap."

It would be refreshing if we developed one of our late round picks into an offensive weapon. I don't think we have done it since Davone Bess. Yes, i know Bess went undrafted.

I believe Albert Wilson was undrafted FA so he has come a long way since then. Danny Amendola UDFA.

Grant has the speed for sure and the moves. The hardest thing for him is his high imo because it means the ball has to be place almost perfect most of the time as he can't extent as far as taller guys can. But he can beat the coverage and if the ball is placed in the right spot he can go all the way at any time.

As always a good piece by Barry Jackson.

I wouldn't put too much into this stuff right now though. Speed merchants like Ballage, Grant, Quinn, etc. have an opportunity to look unstoppable when there's no pads and no contact. The fact they show out now is good, but not particularly impressive yet. If they're able to do this a few weeks into the padded practices and full contact stuff, THEN we should be impressed.

Likewise, when the OL gets beat in spandex, it means nothing … like … absolutely nothing. That the big power backs don't look nimble without pads, isn't really indicative of much. Don't get too hyped about those things or too down about seemingly poor play yet.

What we want to see is good route running, good chemistry, DB's able to shadow their coverage and getting hands on balls, WR's being precise on their routes and creating separation, limiting drops, QB's building chemistry with receivers … all of that rhythm sort of stuff. Sure, we fans want to read about TD's and flash plays, but it's really more about are they learning the techniques than it is about the results at this stage.

What's late round pick? 5th or later? Clay and Matthews. Even Dion Sims, a blocking TE, was turned into a respectable receiver who got a big money contract.
