Hard to argue about anything that was said. Really the Dolphins could go so many ways in the first and the shockwave will be felt in the locker room. I still believe Marcus Davenport is the pick at 11, it just makes so much sense. The only thing that could pull me off that pick is a QB.

"Miami has privately identified LB as its biggest need"

thank god.

"And finally, if the Dolphins wait until day three to add a tight end — something they really cannot afford to do, with the free agent class now bereft of established starters — then A.J. Derby, MarQueis Gray, Gavin Escobar and Thomas Duarte will have reason to feel this job is genuinely up for grabs. But if the Dolphins draft Dallas Goedert or Hayden Hurst or perhaps even Ian Thomas or Mark Andrews, that player would be the likely starter."

Could these be our top targets at TE?

QB is definitely true. Fales/Osweiler is more or less a wash. If we draft someone, would we really carry 4? Would Gase try to revitalize Osweiler or just develop Fales more?

I love Davenport and would be excited about the pick, but you know many people on here will go ballistic because they will say defensive end isn't a need.

Thought this article was going to be about players that could be traded during the draft.

DE will be a huge need next year. The time to fix it is this year. I bet we would have to go out and get another free agent next year at DE so we don't have such a huge need in the draft...lol

you kind of got that sense when you read the title didn't you?

DE cannot be the pick this year given the fact that we have other immediate needs.

we have 5 DE's but 3 could be playing their last season for us......Wake, Hayes are both in a one year deal and Branch should be cut. That leave us with Quinn and Harris who both play RDE. Davenport is a LDE.....hummmmm

T-Bum loves defensive linemen and Gase loves the offensive skill positions and QB’s. I won’t be shocked if they shelve the linebacker/safety and tight end talk and go with their favorites over need positions.

Not only that, but Im sorry, the only real ‘true’ veterans left are Wake and Jones IMO at this point. The other players mentioned- whatever.

I do like Davenport and Harold Landry, but we can't afford a luxury pick when we have other needs.

Hmmmmmmmm. Two can play this game :cool :).

What you state is true, but that is for next year. We are set at DE this year. We have more IMMEDIATE needs at this point, and a first day pick should be used to address it.

What about this year? Who is our starting SAM backer this year? Do we have a legitimate FS who can provide versatility in the secondary? Who is our starting TE?

Our starting SAM is Stephone Anthony, matter of fact, he's the only SAM on our roster right now. He's a New Orleans retread, who has not lived up to his draft value. He's a good depth player. WE NEED TO LAND TREAMAINE EDMONDS. No other SAM linebacker in draft comes close to him. Roquan Smith is a MIKE and WILL backer. Leighton Vander Esch is a MIKE backer.

We don't have a legitimate FS which severely limits our versatility in the secondary. We have two strong safeties starting (and Gase admits this plan did not work out as hoped for last season), if Minkah or Derwin are available, that's another option to address an immediate need. BUT I'm more of a Tavarious Moore fan, and hope we land him in the third round.

We need a difference maker at TE. The second round will provide a great opportunity to land one.

Shoot me in the nuts if we pick a DE. We have one mediocre linebacker and a rookie coming off a acl but hey, let's draft a DE since we only currently have 5.
