Here is my Miami Dolphins D-fense offseason thoughts, (sorry for bad spelling)
- First, we need to sign our own free agents. That being Bell, Crowder, and Carey. Bell needs to be signed becuase of his great tackling against the run and not giving up the big pass play, also made great plays when they counted especially toward the end of the year. Carey on the other hand struggled all year especially with injuries on that side of the line, but overall no one is really out there to replace unless we put big dollars out there for someone like Jordan Gross. If we replace Carey it would be in the Draft.
- Now i will like to talk about Crowder since everyone is in my opion torn on him and if we should sign him. I for one was never big on him coming to Miami, he does sometimes picks the wrong hole or misses the tackle or rushing the QB and doesnt get to close at all. But for only being 25 years old he had a pretty solid year, over 100 tackles even if not for loses he was pretty solid against the run all year and was decent in pass coverage. I feel he can get better but remember he will never be Zach Thomas so lets stop waiting for that to happen. Lastly Bart Scott is very physical but he isnt that great at getting solo tackles and he hasnt made to many big plays and isnt as fast. So dont make him out to be this big replacement.
- First i would like to address the D-fense, i would love to resign Crowder and add someone like Dansby from Arizona. This would keep our leading LB tackler but also add another player that is also good at picking up alot of tackles. Then B.P. picking up his impact LB will add depth with Porter, Roth, Wake and also build a winning team for now and the future. Resigning Bell also with Crowder and picking up Dansby, wow tackling machines here lol. Ill even take Bart Scott if no Dansby. Leave Lewis or Dawkins out of it becuase they will retire with there teams, its only right.
- Now Peppers would be great but i see to much money for one player that might not pan out, but if we did get him and put him opposite of Porter would be scary. But more realistic pick up would be T. Suggs, plus he is younger and i feel more active to get that sack or big hit. He is a playmaker with a attitude and that is what our D-fense needs.
- Lastly i would love to pick up a shut down corner in the draft or Free agencies but i dont see us giving out big contracts becuase we still have alot of holes and want to feel them up with multiple players not just one like Nnamdi Asomugha. Plus Oakland will prolly tagg him. I can see Atogwe, Greer, or Hill resigning before Oakland lets go of the grip on Asomugha.
- I just would like to see a more smash mouth Defense. We need pass rushers, and also a bigger NT to clog some holes up ( i will say Ferg did a pretty good job this year tho). I feel this will be address in the Draft mainly. With great depth at DE and getting it also at OLB with Wake i feel we are on the right path. Now hopefully with luck we can have a great or better offseason then last year to keep building with and make a top 5 D-Fense which i feel we are close too with some pieces.
- Dont be scared about the Secondary, i know they arent Surtain, Madison, Marion, Knight but with a mean pass rushing, run stoping front SEVEN the secondary wont have as much pressure making them better too.
