Am going to make this very simple, teams that spend "too much" money on one free agent player never win. They just don't win. I live close to Detroit, I know SUH's potential and all that. He is game changer and all that but remember the Albert haysworth and them ? Didn't we just do the same thing in 2013 ? and ain't we still trying to clear that mess up ?
Teams that spend crazy during FA just don't win. Think about it!

This could not of been added to one of the other 10 Suh threads? I guess your take warrants your own thread.

How much did NE give Darelle Revis last year?

Great point!

However, I think when your one piece away, you can get away with that. Whey you have multiple pieces like we do that need to be fixed.......I think the larger point is correct.

The key is spending right. On PROVEN players that have PROVEN over several years that they great at their position. Not spending on potential OR players that were successful due to the the system, players around them or players who were great at one position lets say OLB and then you sign them to play another position (lets say MLB) with no proof that they will succeed in that new position. This is what happened with Ellerbe. Wheeler was never that good so we signed him on the dreaded POTENTIAL. Dion Jordon, we spent 2 draft picks to draft a guy that we never saw play 4-3 DE, HOPING that he could make the transition.

Hickey has not done that in his short time here. He signed B. Albert to play a position he's played most of his career. He had plenty of film to review to make a decision. Same with Juwan James.

It's true. Denver spent all that money on Peyton Manning and never made the playoffs with him. And the Raiders went nowhere after they signed Jerry Rice. And Tampa Bay hardly made any noise at all after they signed Simeon Rice. And Rod Woodson and Shannon Sharpe were both huge flops with the Ravens. And what did Charles Woodson ever do for the Packers? And Kurt Warner certainly didn't help the Cardinals. And Drew Brees should have retired before killing the Saints organization. And don't even get me started on Neon Deion.

Thanks for pointing out what many of us might have missed.

Haynseworth was a 4-3 DT and they asked him to play NT in Washington.
Plus pretty much everything that organization does turns to dung so hard to make that the lynchpin of your argument. Though the media is tossing it around.

Green Bay....Regge White....Superbowl.

New England....Revis....Superbowl.

Suh is not Mike Wallace or Haynesworth.

Nothing wrong with paying a couple of elite players on your team...when they are the caliber of Suh.

Elite players you should pay well....what gets you in trouble is overpaying the Ellerbes, Wheelers, Hartlines, Starks etc etc etc....and oh yeah...Mike Wallace.

I don't know but you guys made a lot of good point, I just hope Miami gets it right this time around.

Think about it this way....the day Suh signs the deal....he is the greatest DT in Dolphin history.

And very likely the next Dolphin heading to Canton Ohio.

ME too actually. The Patriots always have a shot with Brady at QB. They may have won it without Revis, you never know.
