Here we go again: ESPN power rankings hate us

We are better than the Jags, Lions, Raiders, Rams, Seahawks, Bucs, Chiefs, Titans and Cardinals. Everyone talks about our offense and noone talks about our defense. How are you going to beat us if you can't score against us?

And how are we going to beat anybody if we can't score on them?

I know it's pointless to cry about the rankings, but all we have right now is play-by-play of practice plays on Twitter, and there's nothing better to do.

24th? Really? I think we're clearly better than the Raiders, Cardinals, Jags, Seahawks, and Titans, and possibly a couple other teams. We have QB problems, but so does half the league.

And the Jets are 7th? Let's compare teams: Dolphins have a potentially great defense with a lot of talent. Jets have a potentially great defense with a lot of talent. Dolphins have skill at the WR and RB positions. Jets have skill at the WR and RB positions. Dolphins have a mediocre-to-bad young QB. Jets have a mediocre-to-bad young QB. But they're 17 spots apart?

Rant over.:3w:
Remember this one statement when trying to rationalize or figure out where assessments or conclusions like this or anything else for that matter that doesn't seem to add up are coming from......"Your only as Strong as your Weakest Link" if that weak link is also your most important piece, item, person, position, etc..... it's going to tank your project, grade, score, rating, etc.... I think that is where ESPN is coming from with this scale. Most of the pieces are in place but our most pivotal piece has not been changed or altered as we know of now so you can only base your assessment on previous data and that data does not favor the Dolphins having success. So as wrong as it looks on paper right now, it's accurate until new data can be input.

simple the jets almost went to the superbowl while Miami didnt make the playoffs. Also not so sure we are head and shoulders above Seattle they added some pretty good pieces outside of Qb. Adding Zach Miller and Sidney rice were [retty damn big

Ne damn sure seemed to find away last year and even though we do have a very good defense they were mid range in points given up.

Oh well, BSPN or any other "expert" power rankings don't mean a damn thing come game time.

Yeah that's crazy fins should be in the mid teens somewhere. I don't see how ANY of the first 6 teams in front of us should be in front of us. And how the hell are the Rams 15th? lmao. I wonder if BSPN analysts sit up at night masturbating to the new flavor of the year QBs, Sam Bradford/Matt Stafford.

Madmic's Preseason Power Rankings.

1. Greenbay-How can you list them anywhere else.
2. Eagles-Great offseason, but 1 prolonged injury to Vick from being out of top 10.
3. Steelers- Great D steady O not much changes with these guys. Always have a shot.
4. Falcons- Julio Jones adds another potential big time weapon.
5. Pats- Brady. But some serious questions need to be answered with the move to 4-3
6. Saints- expect a rebound after a Super Bowl win hangover.
7. Chargers- Weak division and if fixing special teams is handled watchout.
8. Jets- Getting up there in age and went backwards in offseason but hard to count out 2 time AFC championship runnerups.
9.Ravens- Good D. Flacco needs to take next step.
10. Giants-Rebuilt Oline. Don't expect Eli to be INT machine 2 years in a row.
11. Cowboys- New DC will help. Romo healthy Oline must improve.
12 Colts- Team needs to stay healthy and the biggest health concern may be Manning.
13. Bears- 1 more year in O system. D still a force.
14. Bucs-No longer a surprise
15. KC- see 14
16 Fins- New OC may provide enough pop for talented D?
17. Texans-Elite O can new DC provide enough stop for high scoring O?
18.Seattle- Good moves during offseason. Can QB play be good enough in soft division.
19. Rams- Up and coming will challenge for division
20. Vikings. Got talent on both sides of ball can DMAC put it back together?
21. Lions- Is this franchise jinxed?
22. Titans-Some new pieces will they fit? CJ a concern.
23. AZ- QB is not the only concern.
24 Jags- A little below average
25. Raiders- Definately got some talent.. But they are still the Raiders.
26. Niners- New coach new year?
27. Broncos- Steady QB D needs to improve.
28.Bills- Better D one more year in O.
29-Skins-Suck for Luck?
30.-Browns- Need some improvment in talent.
31 Bengals- They are back.
32-Panthers-Gonna be in a spot in 2012 draft to acquire roster changes.

I look at these like this.

Take the offensive ranking plus the defensive ranking and divide by two. That gives you your Week One power rankings. Therfore, dolphins Defense was what, sixth? (Don't feel like looking it up). Our offense I believe was ranked 30th. So I'd take 30 + 6 = 36, divided by 2 = 18. That's a solid ranking based upon our beastly defense and our sub par offense.

Hopefully our D can stay on par and our offense will put more points on the board which would move us up to the low teens power ranking wise. To me this is a better way of ranking a team week one, than just taking opinions from ESPN analysts.

I never really pay attention to the preseason power rankings. It's all just speculation at this point.
