Here you go Phillip River's fans

He will not be a star. I have known that since the day he got drafted. Rivers will never be anything in this league mark my words. I know I dont really know this as a fact but I personally have always believed he was overrated.

Based on what? Not attacking you, just wondering. Mechanics? Vision? Mobility? IQ? What makes you think he's "not going to be a star?"

Drew Brees is the QB of that team. I hope we don't get stupid and trade a draft pick for him next year.

These numbers are still better than any of the QB's that we have on our roster...

If we could have traded for him this year I would have said do it, but with next years draft class...forget about it.

LOL- wow, in that case--nice hair dude :-)

It sometimes just amazes me how some people claim, "I know this, or I know that, or mark my words." QB position is the hardest to play in this loved game of ours, you never really can tell! It would be nice to have an explanation why some people think Philip will be a bust when he HASNT played an entire season yet. As I said in my previous post, I'm a HUGE Brees fan, and I think Rivers will be special in this league. Some people tend to forget what he did in college, and I dont think its worth bringing up here again since its been discussed multiple times on here.

Put it this way, 1/3 of the GM's picked cryin ryan over Manning, well we all know what happened there. The thing the Rivers possesses and separates him from the likes of leafer and other busts are:
- His willingness to learn
- Head is screwed on properly
- Vision of the field
- SMART
- VERY MATURE

Whether its Rivers or Dilfer, anything is better than what you have right now.

yes, for all of 8 plays.

FYI everyone here is Phillip Rivers' professional football career thus far:

5/8 for 33 yards, 62.5% comp, and 1 TD.

yeah, why the hell would we want him?
You didn't happen to see that game did you? 'Cause I did....and he was awful. I won't make a big deal out of it because it was his first NFL game and you can tell he was really nervous.

Anyway, I've seen just about every single snap Rivers has taken in the NFL (including preseason) and I really don't think he's a franchise QB. That's not to say he'll be a bad player...I think he'll be decent, a little above average. I personally wouldn't trade a 1st rounder for him. I'd trade a 2nd, but of course that wouldn't be enough.

One other thing, I find it absolutely hilarious that Omar Jacobs gets so much support on this board when I'm positive that 99% of you have NEVER seen him play (a few highlights doesn't count). He'll be playing tommorrow on ESPN (12ET) against Wisconsin. I suggest you WATCH IT. Form your own opinions people, don't be such sheep. This isn't at all meant to bash Jacobs, I'm just sick of people supporting players based solely on second-hand information.

Omar Jacobs will come out and if he does, we may be able to get him. He is the real deal. His head is equal to his physical talent. Watch and see.

If people just look at the numbers, Jacobs is amazing, but his throwing motion is awful. Not all Qb's need perfect mechanics, and every QB throws the ball a different way, but I just don't think he can be successful unless his throwing motion is completely reworked.

are you kidding? those stats aren't mind-blowing, but they're decent. Keep in mind the guy hasn't played in an NFL game yet. He will be a star, and if we can get him next year, we should try.

If Orton works out, might be able to get Grossman from the Bears for cheap. He has a 1st rounder contract and its unlikely they will keep him and Orton.
Grossman has had bad luck with injuries, but they havent' involved his throwing arm.

Maybe he could throw from a wheel chair... :astro:

a huge thing to think about guys is the financial implications of drafting a QB with our first-round pick next year. how much money do you think this guy will be holding out for? how long into TC until he actually signs? how bad will our cap be then

i think we need to look at trading for other QBs who are young and show promise.

We've been doing that for 5 years, has it worked out so far? And a 1st round pick won't cost too much unless it's a top 5 pick, which we won't have. Why do you think Saban signed so many guys to 1 yr deals? To make cap space the following year for the guys he really wants. It's time to do the dirty work ourselves and develop our own guy.
