Why did his agent and/or him tweet or whatever the **** they did to let the league know they wouldn't sign with ANY team that drafted them after round 3??? If they/he had shut their mouth/social media maybe he would've been drafted in round 4 or later, and then he could've easily refused to sign and enter the draft next year.

What am I missing here, this SEEMS like one of the dumbest, most retarded moves of ALL TIME?

Just wondering, because the media hasn't said too much other than conflicting reports of the NFL not even knowing what their policies on with whether or not Rex meeting with him was allowed.

As long as the NFL makes money off it, they don't give a damn.

I think that sums it up

Ok, BUT it took me literally 90 seconds to look up the rule right after they tweeted that to KNOW there was ZERO chance of him re-entering the draft next year.

Seems ****ing BEYOND stupid to me....just sayin

From what I've seen, Collins's agent/team has been a mess. Really inconsistent messaging, strange decisions at strange times.

my assumption is two factors. the fact is that if you are a fourth round pick you only make $1m more over the life your contract than being an UDFA (excluding the 4th year of the draft pick's deal). while that is a lot of money, it is not in football contract terms considering the benefits of being undrafted. UDFA's get three year deals, while players draft get four. this means that he is going to be eligible to hit free agency sooner and get a new contract. he figures that be will make more in the first of his new deal than he would by being under contract and we will get a big signing bonus then as well. on top of that he has the control of selecting what team he plays for.

not wanting to go back the draft could be because of a multitude of factors. he will be a year removed from football since he signed an agent and is now ineligible to return to college and/or he may need the money now.

On the other hand....now he gets to choose his team....and is free after 3....can be extended after 2....so?.....Maybe his agent is brilliant.

Honestly, going back to college and getting redrafted next year would've been the better move - or in this case doing everything possible to make this happen (most likely nobody would've drafted him anyway)...obviously they would've needed to be drafted, but actively trying to prevent that was nothing short of stupid IMO

i could be wrong here, but i don't think Collins could have gone back to college after he entered the 2015 draft.

This is pretty much it, he can pick a perfect situation and make a handshake deal (hopefully with tannebaum) to allow him to renegotiate his contract after a few years.

If he plays up to his projection, he will make bank in no time.

He could NOT have gone back to college. Not an option once you declare for the draft it makes you inelligible to return to college.

It's my understanding though, that there's a $90k cap for ALL players signed as UDFA's by a given team. Combined. If that's true, doesn't that mean he'll be making substantially less money over those 3 years. Or am I way off?...

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE move, if we sign him I hope he keeps whoever that jackass he had as his agent. Should work in our favor for an extension
Not really that horrible. Given the situation, he wasn't getting drafted in the early rounds whether his agent said something or not.

Honestly, going back to college and getting redrafted next year would've been the better move...
Didn't the NFL take that option off the table?
