What if we trade Madison to Detroit for Orlovsky? Rumor has it that Madison may be cut for cap reasons so its not like we would be giving up much. And Detroit is rumored to be interested in Cutler so they need to make room for another QB (it doubtfull they would carry 3 young QBs).

A lot of people were high on Dan in the draft last year so with 1 year of NFL practices under his belt you would think he is just that much closer to reaching his potential.

I would go for that living in CT I have seen Orlovski from high school to UCONN. He has NFL potential and with some good coaching he will be very productive. He had a great college career, and was one of the main reasons UCONN was as good as they were.

I am not sure about that trade. Nobody really knows how good Orlovsky will be.

Funny I live in CT as well and I'm a UCONN alum that's one of the reason I wanted to draft Dan last year.

We don't have anything to lose by making that trade.Sam's going anyway so why not try the young kid and see if he can help us?

Ozzy rules!!

Can't you say the same thing about every QB in this years draft? The benefit with this trade is that we really give up nothing (assuming that Madison is a cap casualty anyway) and still get a good QB prospect.

One thing I know about for sure about Orlovsky and that he is smart and very coachable. Talent wise he does some things very well, and some others not so well, but getting Orlovsky to me is out of Sabans mind because I would think he would have just drafted him if he wanted him.

My boss currently does the tax forms for UConn football camp and he says he talked to the guy who worked with Orlovsky and says that Orlovsky isnt all that. The way that I interpret things however is that Orlovsky is one of those guys who will quietly make noise sooner or later.

That, intersetingly enough, may be a great idea. Like stated above, his coachability is something that Sabans crew would love to have, I would think. I would have to look at all of the kids' negatives before commiting, though. All I remember of him is his positives. Plus we wouldn't have to draft any more QBs in any of the first 5 rounds, if at all. If the Lions are set on Cutler, I don't know if they wouldn't be trying to shop Harrington.

Didn't we do this exact trade with SD last year for Lemon?

If (as seems the case) Madison is going anyway and it's getting a player with some potential for pretty much nothing, it's got to be worth a shot.

Nah, we gave them Feeley and sixth while they gave us Lemon and a seventh I think.

I like this idea, I hate to see Madison go. But don't forget. Madison has already once taken a pay cut to stay with the Fins a few years ago. He would be great to have on the team. move him to nickle, and let him help couch our younger guys. Good mentor. But I also heard that he is questioning retiring. So if we tried to trade him, he could just retire. We do need to draft another younge DB. But I like Daniels, and Poole will be back after his injury too. GO FINS!!!

Some people are quick to turn down the idea. Here's a few things people should think about. While Orlovsky has never taken a snap in an NFL Regular Season game, neither have any of the rookies everyone rant about everyday. Orlovsky, however, has spent a year behind an NFL quarterback and seen the pace of the game, and had NFL like practices. Secondly, we have nothing to lose assuming Sam Madison is going to be a cap casualty anyway. Why not see what dan Orlovsky can bring to the table? It is a win-win situation. We get to see if he is a good QB, and we lose what we were going to lose anyway, but atleast this way there is some gain.
