Maybe this idea has been batted around already. But what about hiring Cowher as our GM instead of a head coach? I think it would be a good idea. Because then he would not have to be a head coach AND general manager, which I have always thought was terrible idea. This way he can concentrate on just the personal side of things without having to worry about making a game plan for next week's game. That and since he is a more recent Super Bowl winner, he will have a better idea on how to build a team that is a contender build for the modern NFL. Unlike Parcells who is still following an out dated blue print for a Super Bowl team.

I don't like the idea at all. What makes you think Cowher would be a good GM? Just because he was a good head coach doesn't mean he would be a good GM or personnel guy. Just look at Parcells failure has a personnel guy. He failed bigtime. He wasn't qualified to do that and neither is Cowher.

Meh,

Big reason Cowher had success in Putzburgh is due to the fact he DIDNT have to worry about personnel decisions!!!

No thanks.

The set up that used to be in Pitt was always interesting. Up until this year, Pitt has never had a GM. The head coach, owner, and director of football ops have always worked closely together on personnel decisions.

The reason I don't want Cowher in any regard is that he is more of the same - defense first, run the ball, manage the game.

We have the worst personel systems in the league. I think we need at least 35 new players in camp next season. Besides if we change FO where would all the Cowboy rejects go.

Good to see you around KB!!!

I don't want Cowher at all. People only remember his Super Bowls, but there were a good few seasons when the Steelers sucked. Also, what makes you think that the game has not passed him by.

Cowher is a coach, he should stay that way. I definitely want him to have input but imo, you want a true GM to handle personnel.
