With all the talk about Young's draft status dropping because of his wonderlic score (I think it has little to do with his draft status), and Cutlers stock rising so rapidly...

Is it within the realm of possiblity that we pick up McNair, then trade up a few spots to grab Young? All the while hanging on to Gus (restructured contract) as insurance in case McNair's body fails him.

Thoughts?

Please forgive me if this scenario has already been discussed.

Young will NEVER fall that far.

yeah Vince Young isnt going to fall past the number 10 pick. I think it would be VERY dumb for Miami to get Steve Mcnair. I mean Miami already has a old verteran as their QB, why would miami get 2 old verterans? Steve Mcnair sucks any ways, hes only had 1 good season!

I love this plan, but I don't think we'll have to trade any spots to get young.

There has been a lot of speculation about Youngs ability at the NFL level. However, watching last year I don't see the same thing as other's here on the board do.

We'll see how it plays out.

Steve Mcnair has been thought of as a top 10 to 15 QB almost his whole career except of course his rookie season lol even top 10 some years, he has always had some pretty solid recievers but never a core that makes you say wow, to say Steve Mcnair suck is way off

I think McNair is an upgrade over Gus, but only slightly. The biggest fear is that he is so injury prone that he hasn't even practiced with his team the last couple of years. How in the world is he going to develop any chemestry with our receivers if he can never practice with them? He would be low on my list of QB pickups available this year.

You need to learn more about Steve McNair.

If I'm trading up, IMO there's too much value there to not jump on. But Young, if he slips to us, would be incredible.

i would much rather have drew brees over both mcnair and young

AGREED!

There are quite a few people (although Im not one of them) who speculate that Young could far as 16. The scenario, although not likely. is in fact possible.

I think some people forget that while he is a little banged up, he's a seasoned vet. Did you forget that he has led a team to the Super Bowl? That he was the co-mvp of this league before? That he has been one of the elite QB's or at least in the upperhalf of them for most of his career. I would take McNair because he's an upgrade over Gus, and a much needed one. Vince on the other hand, I would be tempted to take if he fell, but I would be much more satisfied with a Winston Justice/Eric Winston/Jonathon Scott in the 1st and an Omar Jacobs or Croyle in the 2nd.

If we don't get Brees or Culpepper AND Young falls to #16, I wouldn't be opposed to this idea. The possibility of a McNair/Young apprenticeship has been brought up before in relation to the Titans.

I would like us to pursue Brees and Culpepper first, and I would not (at this point) trade up to get Young.
