Isn't that a little premature? I'm not saying it isn't possible or won't happen. I just mean shouldn't that be determined after Pennington plays at least a few regular season games? Don't get me wrong I hope you're absolutely 100% right.

I'm trying to think of someone better, and I can't. You win.

But only on this point. Don't get carried away.

I thought the same thing when we got Culpepper, Green, etc.

If the franchise sees Pennington as anything other than an upgrade at stopgap QB over McClown, they're mistaken. I think that's the only reason we have him.

Well the shoulder injury Pennington had usually takes two years to fully recover from.. And he has shown it in jets camp.. In fact, if you read the jets blogs during training camp, they were raving how his arm seems much stronger with his higher velocity throws....

Pennington was quite impressive in Jets camp when you read their training camp blogs...

Moreover, Chad only had 2 int's during camp, while Clemens had 8 int's.. Pennington was clearly their starter this season before Tannenbaum got a hard-on for Favre.. It was much more an "owners decision" to go for Favre than a coaching decision.. It has been shown that Tannenbaum has loved Favre for a long time, and wanted him in a Jets uni.

I agree.

Oddly though, this signing seems anti-climactic after the last few months of wondering which QB was going to win (or just not lose) the spot.

Penny still has to stay healthy for a full season or we'll be back at square one. Then the fun & games can pick up where they left off...

also a bit too familiar as far as past regimes have been.

Ya know, you're probably right. Penny probably is the best QB we've had in a long time. He does hold the record for passing percentage, doesn't he? We shouldn't have given him that much money . . . but how much could that really hurt us?

Yea, and I was looking forward to the pre-season to see who steps up, but now that we know whose gonna start we can pay attention to other things
