In not to sold on this prospect
I am !! I am no Tennessee or Vandy fan either, although I live here in East Tennessee, but Cutler can flat out play some ball and has a great arm and can make plays. If he was on a big team, like USC,Texas, people would be saying he's a superstar, and he would be with a supporting cast. This guy will be a big time player in the NFL, and I would love to have him to build a team around !!! ;)

I was'nt choosing him over or under anyone, just replying to your thoughts about you wer'nt sold on him.He is a good solid QB and will make a great NFL QB.

As far as over, under anyone, I have'nt watched the 2 guys you spoke of enough to make a comment, although I know both guys good.I know they are said to be good, and are good,I just have'nt watched them play any, or much, and I always reserve comment on players unless I have seen them personally.

Im no expert or anything, but I played QB myself when I played. And when I saw Dan Marino play at Pitt in college, I said then, he was going to be a Superstar, but I knew their was no way we would get him....but then we did !!!

I'm not putting Cutler on Dan's level, but I am putting him just below it.The kid has a big time arm and can flat out throw the football, and that I know from watching him play quite a bit.

One impressive thing about Cutler is in 3 years playing against SEC defenses with those monstrous defensive lines that they have, he has been sacked 63 times. I don't know about his rookie season because I can't find the stats for it, but only 63 times in something like 34 or 35 games...I averaged out his full 2003, 2004, 2005 sack percentage and he only gets sacked once about every 17 or 18 dropbacks.

Considering the very poor offensive lines that he has worked with, that is pretty incredible IMO. It is no doubt one of the reasons he has stayed healthy. One thing I'm not sure you can teach is genuine pocket awareness. Right now, 2005, he's getting sacked once every 21 or 22 dropbacks.

So, you can just tally up the things the guy has going for him. Lots of heart. Great size. Fantastic mobility (in the true sense of the word, mobility as a QB, not mobility as a runner who is trying to play QB). Cannon for an arm. I hear he's got a very mature attitude isn't there some special on tv about how he spends his time helping out mentally challenged kids? Gunslinger's mentality. He's got some shoddy mechanics (not his throw, more his squaring and footwork), but if he's willing to learn, that is something that can be fixed when he learns that he doesn't have to make all the plays himself every down. The guy's accuracy hasn't really been in question from his statistics either, especially at a school like Vandy to be able to complete 60% or close to it is generally pretty good.

You make a good point but I actually think his offensive lines have been solid. A lot of the longer balls I've seen him throw have been due to his receivers having plenty of time to get open and Cutler just hanging around in the pocket.

how is the deep ball? accurate? hits wr in stride in general?

The thing I have against Cutler is he has been playing in the old college set style of football, and the change to the pro-set style can sometimes be overwhelming. A lot of quarterbacks take a long time to adjust and some never quite make it, and end up being 3rd stringers.

Cutler has all the tools you look for in a starter in this league. I think when it comes draft day cutler will be a first rounder.

I'd like to see saban pick up a better qb coach if we're going to go with someone as raw as cutler. He does have all the tools, but i'm not sure we have the guys on staff to develop them properly

 Have you seen him play at all this year? He's been playing in a pro-style offense all year and leading the conference in passing!
