They aren’t planning anything to effectively change this roster. No big-money signing (such as recently released-Eagles linebacker Mychal Kendricks, or former Detroit defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins, among others). No signing at all, unless something changes. And that’s best explained by understanding they maneuvered much of this offseason knowing they had this money coming and putting off some basic expenditures.

Like rookie contracts.

yeah someone mentioned on another thread maybe using the money to lock down McCain so we don't get into Jarvis Landry territory with him. that'd be nice but after watching his interviews after OTAs im pretty sure that's not gonna happen. I don't think he's Landry like in the way he thinks hes the top player at his position and should be paid that way, but he's already mentioned "we win, we all get paid. teams that go to the super bowl, all the players get paid" and we know hes not talking about the playoff bonus they receive. So im sure hes going to be testing out the market at the end of the season, which rightfully so, and he deserves to see what hes worth. but more than likely I don't see us resigning anyone early or bringing in any names. I figured maybe hankins until we traded for spence. Its just gonna be rookies, like the two above mentioned, and then emergency/roll over money

McCain? Our slot corner?

Bah! Assuming Hankins could be had for anything reasonable relative to his abilities, why not shore up the DT position - the only glaring weakness on this team?

I'd rather see us roll over money into next year. It will be nice to be back in the green when it comes to Cap so we can, ya know, retain some of our own talent.

I think we're going to have interest in players yet to be determined. Find it hard to believe we're going to just sit on that money but we also have to be sensible with it

if you can manage 10m in cap rollover it will go a long long way next year. Think about if Miami didn't have to use that 10m on Cutler last season and it rolled over to this year the rookie class would be signed and you'd have 20m in money tomorrow.

Absolutely, we have players playing on the last year of their rookie contracts, Phillips, McCain, Parker and James just to name a few.

Rookie contracts and you always need some saved up space for the inevitable training camp + season injuries

There is always team turnover year to year. I have no problem letting these guys walk. Barring a breakout this year, none are game changers.

McCain is a player that is paying well, if he improves even further, he's a keeper.
