Hey Dolfans, I encourage you to be patient with the team right now. I hate losing as much as the next guy, but here's why I'm not panicking:

1. I EXPECTED THIS TO HAPPEN. Guess what? This is a brand new offense, brand new terminology, brand new concepts. Right now, all of the players are thinking through every play instead of just playing. The receivers are thinking about route depths, proper release angles, and their route adjustments. This is probably why there are so many dropped balls. This is why Tannehill is late on his decision making and thus late on getting the ball out and thus a hair off on some of the easy throws.
2. Improvements are there this year, they're just difficult to see through losses. The offensive line is better. The running game is LIGHT YEARS better. Some players are coming into their own...namely Jelani Jenkins, Derrick Shelby, and JaWaun James.
3. The defensive deficiencies can be fixed. The biggest issues at the moment are basic...getting off blocks and tackling.

If these problems persist after half of the season, then I'll panic with many of you out there.

Before the season started I saw some NFL analysts and columnists that predicted this year would be Ryan Tannahills year for a breakout. I bought into it. What a hoot.

Good luck with all that. Different year, players change, schemes change, coaches change but one thing stays the same. We suck.....

Qb regressing by the week just part if the process pfft bench him start Moore and score!

I'm not panicking either ... because it's really getting hard to care about an organization that doesn't seem to care about itself. Here's why I am pessimistic:

1. The mistakes we've seen in the first three games are the same exact mistakes we've seen last year and the year before. And, honestly, we've seen previous coaches and GMs endure similar problems.

Everything else is trumped by No. 1. Continuing the same behavior and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity. The Dolphins are the definition of insanity. It starts at the top, and you can't fire the owner.

I remember after a hot first game that Philadelphia stumbled for a couple games in the new offense. And then Michael Vick went out and they got an actual passer in there who could make accurate throws and everything looked a lot better.

I liked that the original post mentioned that the running game looked good as a bright spot. Tell me again why that matters when this team sees a back average over 2 yards more per carry than they do per pass and they still don't get him the ball even in short yardage. Yes I am sure that just like last year we will see some running game correction games like we did versus Buffalo and I think New England, where the team forces itself to run 2 out of every 3 plays. This doesn't improve anything, as next week's game when we force ourselves to run the ball like that the opportunities may not be there, and even if we have success there it doesn't mean the team won't inexplicably pass in situations where the game makes it completely irrational to do so, such as the Buffalo game last year where we ran it constantly except for when we had the game won and decided to pass and lost the game. The team can fix the run/pass ratio, but what you can't fix is that you are too stupid to see what is working in a game and play accordingly.

You can't fix stupid, and that's what this team is until Philbin is fired and Tannehill is benched, which sadly may not happen for several more years based on what Miami usually does with QB's.

You had me... up until logic kicked in..

The receiver must be new to catching the ball also... because there is a heck of a lot of dropsie..
Miller must be new to running away from defenders and high stepping when running in traffic, cuz he does neither..
Lazor must be new to football when he calls a run play on 3rd and 20+
Philbin must be new to coaching when he runs tail to the locker room at half, then the next week doesnt.
The defensive back must be new to defending against the pass.. or the receivers have some serious body odor, cuz it seems they dont want to get within 10 yards of em
The LB's must be new to tackling and chasing after RB's and TE's...

There is a serious hurtin going on with this team... To go from a dominating team against the Pats.. to what they showed the last cpl weeks... I fear a total collapse is coming, but I sure hope you're right and everything is going to be wonderful once we get over the next hurdle..

Ah, I see you have read Steve Ross's new book, How Not to Hire a HC or GM . I hear it's quickly becoming a hot seller. I am going out to get mine today. No doubt it gonna make the New York Times Best Seller list... ;-)

Here is why I am panicking... because it is time to panic. All the groundwork that has been laid for the past 2+ years (whether you believe it was laid by and with the right people in Philbin and Tannehill) is crumbling. The "system" Philbin promised when he was hired has not materialized. Tannehill is no better today than he was when he was drafted. We are back to square one AGAIN.
