I've been watching Trent Green for five years now. In that time frame I've seen over 80 percent of his games.

Strengths:

Good field vision (excellent at reading defenses, doesn't get fooled too often).

Superb command of the offense (knows where everyone needs to be and will be if the play is run properly).

Extremely accurate if given time to throw. Deadly off play-action.

Adequate arm.

Has surprising escape ability at times despite limited mobility - he's not Bledsoe. Fearless scrambler (got him hurt last year) and will dive for first downs.

Rarely fumbles.

Devastating blocker, especially when the running back cuts it back against the grain.

Weaknesses:

Holds the ball way too long sometimes - this is his most glaring weakness.

Horrid accuracy when on the run. Will frequently throw the ball in the dirt at an open receiver's feet when trying to throw while rolling out.

Throws an average-at-best deep ball.

Has a nasty habit of forcing the ball in the redzone, leading to interceptions at the worst possible times.

You will need a good-to-great offensive line to get the best out of Trent Green. If you can't protect him consistently, he's average at best. He'll make tough throws under pressure, but if pressured constantly will eventually snap and start making mistakes. If you CAN protect him consistently, even with limited receivers, he'll get the job done time and again.

Questions?

You wouldn't happen to know where we could find a good to great offensive line, do you?

2002- 3700 yards, 61.1% comp, 26 TD, 13 INT

i like his numbers that are posted above except for the 17 picks in 04' but still nice numbers. hopefully he has a year like he did in '03 for us.

Those are excellent numbers...

however we'll have to see how he does this season. KC had one of the best o-lines in the entire nfl for those seasons. They also had Tony Gonzalez and Priest Holmes/LJ (each were/are top 3 backs).

Thanks for the breakdown. I'm glad these two teams could finally meet in the middle and get this deal done.

Couldn't agree more. This is almost as bad as trading for Culpepper. Or even A.j. Feeley.

I don't think it was THAT bad!

Worst case scenario we'll throw Lemon in there like we did Joey last season :sidelol:

That is a pretty good write up on Green. I don't think his throwing while on the move is quite as bad as the thread starter says but thats just my opinion. Is biggest knock in my mind is forcing the ball in the red zone. It is an issue. But overall you are getting a good QB and a great person. A real leader. I wish him the best in Miami.

I disagree. Trent Green will fit in and run Cam's offense better than Culpepper. This will be a nice fit for two years until Beck takes the helm.

diddo, besides at least this makes us maybe not a sb contender at least a playoff contender, an i dunno if i could stand another playoff free year, besides our defense isnt gettin any younger and now is the time for a playoff run, dont get me wrong i am a cpep supporter and i think he will become great again just not this year and we cant wait
