Not that you'll care, but I'll give you a quick rundown of my background. I've been a Georgia bulldogs fan since I was 3 years old, have only missed 5 home games since I was 7 years old (am currently 22), have a UGA tattoo, etc. I'm a diehard basically, but I've never really gotten into the NFL. I don't know what it was really, but I decided this year that I'm ready to get into the Nfl and throw my support for a team, and I picked the Dolphins. I've already bought a hat and a shirt, and I'm starting to acclimate myself to the team and players. This isn't a short term thing either, I really, really want to back a team and I'm ready to root for the dolphins as hard as I can.

So...with that little bit of background out of the way, I need you guys' help. Yall have been around the program much, much longer than I have so I kind of need yall to lean on when it comes to the important matters. I've been reading the board for a while and realize that either of the Longs or G. Dorsey are our top 3 choices for the #1 pick (assuming we don't trade down), but what do you guys think? Personally, I think DL is more of a concern than OL, so I would lean more towards Long or Dorsey. What about yall? Also, what are yalls outlook for next year? I really like the site and can't wait til next season!

First welcome aboard.

Now onto your question.

Don't forgot Gholston. We're most likely going to be running a 3-4 and Gholston would fit in to that defense beautifully. With a good combine, he could be the guy we take at #1.

Realistically, I think it's going to come down to Chris Long/Vernon Gholston/Glen Dorsey. Any of them would be fine by me.

Interesting. Like I said I'm a college guy first so I've seen plenty of VG this year. On all the mock drafts I've seen though I've never even heard him mentioned as a possibility. I think that Long has more tenacity and more of a high motor guy, but VG has more of the measureables you want in a DE. Do you think we'd be more likely to take a DE than Dorsey though at this point? Also, why are they making the switch the the 3-4?

I think its more likely we'd take DT over a DE.. only because our run defense was so horrible this year, pass defense wasn't bad at all (top ten in league) Of course that could just be because every team we played was running the ball all day long and had no need to throw it >_<

I think the best scenario is that we draft a guy like Ahtyba Rubin and try to get Traylor to stay another year to teach Rubin and Solai the tricks of the trade before he puts an end to a terrific career. Im not sold on Golston and I am going to stick to my guns that Chris Long is our guy.

We could pretty much use help across the board...but I think getting a Chris Long or Dorsey will help us immediately...it all depends on who the Tuna wants most and whether we go with a 4-3 or 3-4 defense. We lost Chambers and Randy McMichael so we could use another top WR and TE....we still have not found our franchise QB and Beck may or may not be it.
We also really need a good defensive back or two.

Welcome aboard as a Phins fan....I have always liked Ugga the Bulldog.

Id welcome either of the longs... or dorsey... or gholston at this point. we have so many needs, that it really doesnt matter at this point. all that matters is we get someone in here, with our #1 pick that can make an instant impact at whatever position he plays.

although I did read an interesting article at rivals.com earlier in the week that suggested parcells and company may look to matt ryan with the #1...

and... welcome to finheaven... err... dolphinsnation! hope you find a way to be as hardcore of a dolphins fan as you are a bulldogs fan. although a tat of a dolphin next to the bulldog might make people wonder. haha welcome aboard!!

Welcome! Here is the rundown:

This past year, we:

-Couldnt stop the run
-Played about 10 different safeties
-Played 16 different starting defensive lineups
-Had a revolving door at QB (for a change)
-OL started real good, and regressed

Hope this helps!

Welcome aboard, it's good to see more Dolphin fans here in GA. If you want to immerse yourself in the Dolphins, you've come to the right place. The beautiful thing about this site is the varied opinions and you will find on alll kinds of topics.
As far as our draft, it's probabally still up in the air until our coaching staff is completely in place and current player evaluations are made. Then again, our talent pool is pretty shallow, so it shouldn't take too long to evaluate them. At any rate, I think the majority of us are hoping to trade out of the top spot to gain additonal picks to fill our multiple holes instead of being saddled with the cost of the #1 overall pick.
Once again, welcome to the site and look forward to seeing you around.

The way I see it is like this.

You started rooting for the Phins this year. Coincidently we had our worst year ever.

Will you please return your shirt and hat and purchase a NE set. Thanks

Welcome buddy!!!
Question for the draft gurus out there: Isn`t Rodrique Wright supposed to fill the role that we are discussing drafting Chris Long for? Or is Long versatile enough to take over for JT - Roth on the other side?

Rod plays Vonnie's position. He doesnt stand up, like JT does at times, which is where many project Long will play.

If we drafted:

Chris Long
Glen Dorsey
Vernon Gholston or
Matt Ryan ( yeah I know)

It wouldn't be bad. But I really see it being a defensive player.
