Hey Tony, fix the running game

Sparano needs to fix the running game fast. Chad Henne can't be our leading rusher every week or we are in serious trouble. Around the league...Ronnie Brown rushes for a pedistrian 7 yards for a 1.7 YPC and Ricky Williams rushes for 63 yards for over 5.0 YPC, Reggie Bush runs for 38 yards for 3.4 YPC.
Bottom line is we need more balance on offense if we want to advance to the play offs, there is still plenty of time to fix the running game.
 
There are not many good RBs left out there right now. We blew it on Ricky. What about Grigsby, he wasn't too bad, he's fast, good catching the ball, and has potential. I was very concerned how much we were using Bush against NE--we can't overwork him like that or we will lose him to injuries before long.
 
Reggie Bush had 14 yards on his first carry...And ran AT Haynesworth and Wilfork...

We will be fine.

Also, if teams stack the box there's not much you can do...Just look at Chris Johnson's first week stats...

and he only averaged 2.4 yards per carry for the rest of the game after his first carry.

That's not fine.

Not at all.
 
Glad to see Thomas and Clay both practiced today...add Johnson and we have the backs to get the job done this week against the Texans.

Like I said, if they stack against the run there's not much we can do. Look at Chris Johnson's first week stats, they are worse than Reggie's. Does that mean the Titans need to re-examine their running game too?

Bush has never been asked to run between the tackles. Not at USC nor in New Orleans, never.
 
If Henne keeps passing the way he did Monday night, the running game will fix itself.
 
I agree but I don't think it's the #1 priority.

If Henne remains consistent (the big what if at the moment) I think the Dolphins can survive as a passing first team and grab some runs when the box loosens up.

The bigger problem with the offense was reaching the 1 yard line twice and coming away with 3 points. Even on the first TD it was Henne running it in that sealed the deal.

We saw this last year, the Dolphins reach the red zone and come away with 3. Better teams come away with 7 and in the end the Dolphins put up a good fight but lose the game.

With Thomas back it might make a difference, guess we'll find out on Sunday.
 
I think it'll be good to get Thomas back, but it was also refreshing to see that we didn't keep trying to do something that didn't work, and actually continued to move the ball;; which is what we were clamoring for the last few years....

we need to do something about the goal line

Bush Did great!! They didnt run him in the second half.. N Daniel Thomas N Clay WAs Out!! But yet you talk about balance!!!

this is interesting. so mike vick runs for 50+ yards and he is a stud but henne runs for 50 and he is not supposed to. interesting. most teams would start to worry about the QB making runs like that. It means they have one more thing to worry about aside from covering 4 wr's and reggie bush.

actually I think i have stated before that the GL is the only place i want to see it cus you have extra linemen and no QB.
