“We’ve done a lot of work as far as with our doctors,” Hickey said. “They all do an excellent job so we were very comfortable from that standpoint. That was not really an issue for us as much.”

The notion that Ajayi won’t have a prolonged NFL career seems curious. How many running backs do?
Ajayi disputes the notion that his knee will abort his career.
“I know that with my knee and with the way that I made sure I handled it, I will play for a long time,” he said. “I’m just excited to see how my future just unfolds, and I’m excited to be a Dolphin.”

Hickey is like a politician -- he talks a lot but says nothing. The only thing he "admitted" about the knee was that they were OK with it at the spot they picked him -- in R5.

Obviously that along with every other team passing on such a productive college player tells you all you need to know. The knee is a significant concern -- and there's a reason WHY. If it wasn't a concern he would have been picked much higher.

I mean -- how simple is that?

Interesting what ajayi said about "with the way I made sure I handled it, I will play for a long time"? Strange thing to say, and very vague! I wonder if he went overseas and got that platalet rich injection? I've noticed athletes are doing it but seemingly on the hush.

I doubt if a college kid could afford to go that route.

Why take a guy high when you know he's going to drop?

ajayi has been "handling" his knee since he was injured 4 years ago.

didn't stop him from carrying the ball 347 times for 1823 and catch in excess of 500 yards of passes in 2014.

he's smart about it, he knows what to do, and it hasn't affected him on the field for years.

Hickey is foolish to heap praise on Ajayi until he signs. He would also be foolish to be confident about his knee and look like an idiot if it becomes. Problem. Really, what else would we expect him to say.

well if our team doctors are comfortable with it you know he is ****ed

Rookies don't really have a lot negotiating room with the new CBA.
