Hickey can still turn this draft around

While I think James is actually a good player and I think he could be very steady at RT, it was still a reach and a stupid move to not trade down and acquire more picks. Do not tell me we could not trade because the next two picks were traded. Barring someone spectacular falling to us at 50, we have to either target Bitonio or Filo. I really do not think Filo will fall that far, but if by some chance he does, he has got to be the pick. More realistic would be Bitonio. Bitonio is an animal run blocking. His pass blocking is not on the same level as his run blocking, but moving him inside to guard can help that part of his game as he will not be out on an island.

He reached for a RT in the first round. Salvage? Yeah okay. Drink that Kool-Aid if you want to.

I'm not sure getting a safe pick warrants a salvage tag.

Kool-aid indeed.

Without knowing what the options are to trade down I am not going to say it was possible to have been done based solely on the next two picks being traded down. To many factors that influence the decision. I will say that if Hickey declined to trade down to a position where he could have still gotten his man and an extra pick, there is no reason to think this draft or the personnel decisions being made this year are going to improve from previous years.

Everyone needs to chill out. James was the pick reguardless, would have preferred to trade down to 27 to get him, but it happens and I'm a happy camper. There's still a TON of talent out there. A TON.

Stephen Ross loves you. Enough suckers will still support this foolishness regardless.

Maybe salvage was the wrong word, but he needs to turn this thing in a more positive direction. You have to be on point in the first rd. If he would have made a move like this in the 3rd rd, it would have been more palpable.

this was no reach by any means, just because it was OL, which i agree is not very sexy, but it was a need, he was the last 1st round grade Tackle available and started 49 games at RT in the SEC

Sure.

I don't know what's more annoying. The Dolphins continued ineptitude, or the idiots who continue to support their foolish decisions.

Yeah. Everyone knows if you don't draft an OL in the first round, there's no way you'll be able to find one later.

why you just not GTFO and become a fan from another team then....

Good solid pick, fills a need !!!!! I don't get why so many negative posts. Sounds like jet fans.

85% James is still there when Miami trades back. If James was indeed somebody Miami coveted at #19 -- somebody that they felt strongly about -- that 15% risk is enough to not want to trade down at the possibility of not getting a player they really wanted.

But say you knew what the coaching staff claims to know about James, and you trade down, and a player that was available at 19 isn't there at 26 -- then you feel like a real doucher because you tried to get cute to get an extra third round pick when you could have had a guy you really liked at 19.

Acquire more picks? this isn't about acquiring picks, this business is about winning, give them a break, if they don't come out of this draft with the best available RT then you will cry like a whipped dog, they are not picking by your draft board. Who cares if he was a so-called reach teams play to win the games HELLO!!! this was a need position and not a BPA pick. GO DOLPHINS!!!!!
