Although I am not crowning Hickey as the next Ozzie Newsome or Ted Thompson, he is a sure upgrade over the previous GM. Since 2006 the Bucs have sent DT-Gerald McKoy, RB-Doug Martin, G-Davin Joseph, QB-Josh Freeman and LB-Lavonte David to the Pro-Bowl. Those are the Draft picks and they are still on the roster. The guy we had here has..... C-Mike Pouncey on the current roster. That's it. The Bucs are better at every position than the Dolphins except C, LDE, LDE, P, RDT and possibly QB. He is not the ideal guy, I know. But I think he can get some quality Offensive Linemen and find us a decent RB.

I also on the Hickey bandwagon albeit by default. We have to support him and the organization. Off course you don't have to do anything.

Agree I like the Hire

The other candidates who said no to the Dolphins were looking for the perfect situation or job....Hickey will now carve out his first GM job...screw the "premadonnas" and lets support Hickey....Let's Go!

I will support him because there isn't much else I can do. I will hope for the best but the whole interview/hiring process was a disaster.

Even though we are embarrassed, and skeptical of the hire we should at least give Hickey a chance.

we all act like we know we hit a home run or struck out with our GM hire.

We ****ed up. Anyone that thinks otherwise is a blind homer. This power structure is laughable, we would've been better off keeping Ireland and cleaning house at the end of next season if we were stupid enough to appoint Aponte ahead of the new GM. No one does business like this.

We have to give him a chance. We will know fairly quickly whether he is a good GM or not. What I do know is this. The Bucs starting lineup in 2013 was much better than our Dolphins.

I don't know anything about any of these candidates or the guy who got the job. I do know that Ireland sucked horribly and will never be more than a ball boy for another club. He and Mike Tannenbaum can get together and hang out. If QB play is better next year, we will be good. Oh, and memo to Hickey: resign Brent Grimes.

I was thinking that the 2013 Buc did embarrass the 2013 Dolphins-- they have had some real talent in Tampa--
just poor coaching - he will be aggressive and work with Philbin to build a winner!

Everyone wanted anyone other than Ireland.......now we have that.

When all is said and done, the Ireland tenure will be viewed more favorably than Hickey's. I am pretty confident in that..

Matt Millen > Jeff Ireland. At least Millen wasn't mediocre and cursed his franchise with bad draft picks while consistently failing to reach the playoffs.

This is a win if the Dolphins were solely looking for someone to bring TALENT to the roster. Sure, the other guys who turned down the Dolphins may have been just as good or better than Hickey, but so long as Hickey makes the roster better, he'll be doing the job that Ross and Aponte want him to do.

We have a real QB in Tannehill and what looks to be a great, young, and talented OC.

Put good coaching together with a good QB, good offensive play-calling, and added talent....it should mean more wins next year and in the future.

Let's hope this works out.
