The group of us that has been quietly or vocally optimistic about the upcoming season was based on the acquisition of those gentleman. Well perhaps Hickey not so much before today or at least the draft.
And it looks like the dividends were immediate.
Each man on that list appears to be a tangible upgrade over his predecessor.

Hickey actually going out and getting players that fit the scheme and show up on game day. A GM who has a relationship with his coach.

Lazor? It appears we got a smart man that dutifully absorbed a year long study of the most innovative offensive minds in football right now.

Benton - Homerun hire

Duffner - You are only as good as your depth but the early returns are very promising.

Many here loathe Ross, but give the guy some credit on these hires.

Philbin hires his own coaches so the props go to him but Ross did push to have Sherman removed.

I wold throw Garfinkels name in there....while he doesn't have an impact ont he field....I do love his desire to merge the past with the present...

I like Hickey's moves so far but I hope he doesn't turn into Grigson from Indy. Grigson nailed his first draft and it's kind of been downhill from there. I'm hoping Hickey stays at a high level and continues to make solid moves.

Benton was probably the hire I was most excited about. The guy can coach.

Lazor I wasn't sure about but I liked what I saw while he was at Virginia and he's been pretty solid so far. The real test comes when opposing defenses have enough game film to study and keyed in on our tendencies. How will he adjust? Can he do it on the fly during a game?

Duffner, from what I've read, can really coach but he really doesn't have a lot to work with. He's got a lot of youth to mold for sure but Wheeler and Ellerbe may have just cut themselves from the team once the season is over. Not one of them were missed yesterday and when Ellerbe was in he was late to the play...he just looks really slow. Hopefully Misi can play against Buffalo cause he's a thumper, a downhill linebacker that can play the run and we need that for Buffalo badly.

I agree on Hickey, I think he brought in some great draft picks and udfas who will come in a legitimately push for a starting role. McCain looks dangerous out there, and Landry is an upgrade on returns as far as I can see.

Benton's work speaks for itself. The man is a magic worker, and the fact that this unit is just going to get more cohesive until Pouncey comes back is awesome. They have another huge test next week in Buf though.

Duffner has to get credit for having these boys ready to play at a moments notice, like I said McCain looks sick, Jenkins is coming along really nicely and might start soon and Trusnik played better than he ever has, outside of the Gronk TD.

Lazor. This man is a f*cking breath of fresh air. I forgot what its like to have an OC that lets the game dictate his playcalling. I guarantee he didn't plan to feed Moreno as much as he did, but he rode the hot hand. What a novel concept. I'm extremely happy with this guy so far, he seems extremely smart.

I'm still on cloud nine after last night. Can't wait til Sunday!
