Hickey To Be Fired Monday....Chris Grier In The mix For GM

They should elevate Grier unless they want to keep the job open so the HC can bring his own guy with him. Grier is more than qualified.

Hayden I used to be on this forum many years ago. You always struck me as one of the more level headed posters here. What exactly is it that you like about Tannenbaum? Since he's leading this GM search...

Someone had to take the fall for leaving the team vulnerable at guard, middle linebacker, free safety, and backup tackle. That was bad roster management at those spots.

If you want to argue that the franchise has identified talent from college recently, then Chris Grier (who has headed college scouting) could easily be elevated. He has garnered interest around the league and may be a rising star in the executive ranks. If he's not elevated here, some other team may steal him.

Happy Tannenbaum isn't naming himself GM, but still leery of his presence...

Maybe Ross can throw a brinks truck full of money at Thomas Dimitroff? Now HE would be a great hire. Built the Patriots in the early 2000's and done a great job with the Falcons.

Grier might be a great candidate, but he will be a first time GM if the rumor is true.
This all smacks of Tannenbaum making sure he is the most experienced guy in the room. God help us.
This will also prevent a top name HC hiring. This paves the way for Mangina.
Wash - Rinse - Repeat

I can see Ross way of doing things has not change. We need to clean house but here we go with one first and the season is not over yet. I don't think Hickey has done bad with the draft, specially compared to Ireland but I'm ok with making a change but don't do it half ass like in the past

My sentiment as well. I was hoping we would clean house. Dreading us hiring Mangini as HC....I want a HC thhat can nring something different instead of more former jets

I like the idea of Grier staying with the organization. I think it's a good move if true.

Lmao, how do you know that?

First of all, Chris Grier has done his time. He has been the director of college scouting for the past four seasons, but has been with the team for 14 seasons. Many wondered why he was not promoted when Ireland was given the boot. I give a ton of credit to him that he survived coaching purge after coaching purge. It means he has some talent.

Most of all, published reports say that when he interviewed with other teams well. When other teams have had interest in him, that means something to me.

Finally, Miami has to find some continuity. He could give that in some respects.

I am not saying Miami has to run to hire him, but he would be a solid hire. Give the man a shot at it.

Not a good gm, only got the job because 147 other people turned it down and he was the last option, but seems a nice man and deserves better than to be stabbed in the back because someone kissed his bosses ass and stole what little power hickey signed up for

Grier by all accounts is a compent guy, i would prefer we get a gm who can actually draft (unlike the dolphins in my lifetime) but who wants a gm job with no power or even full say over the draft? Not to mention having to work for a failed gm who will constantly interfere.

We will only get dregs, might well just promote one of our own, we wont draft well while Tannenbaum is here either way

That's fine and all, but neither you or any of us have a clue what he's actually done.
