We all know that rookies age going to take time to see what they can do. Only asking for an opinion on which one you think Hickey did a better job with bringing to the team.

FA's- Albert, Moreno Satele, Smith, Fox, Mitchell, Finnegan, Colledge, Delmas, and let's add in Grimes and Starks.

Rookies- James, Landry, Turner, Tripp, Hoskins, Fede, Johnson, Mc Cain, Aikens, and D Wiliams.

Which group is your favorite overall?

The free agents are probably most responsible for the New England win despite poor QB play so for this year I would say the free agents will have the bigger impact. But in 1 or 2 years I'd say we'll forget about or even lament some of those signings and the draft picks hopefully come into their own winning games for us. Especially a few of the undrafted guys that have the potential to boom or bust.

We won't really know about rookies for at least 2 more years. However if you compare them to past rookie classes they're all galaxy. The biggest impact has been from FA signings. You have to consider that having Branden Albert isn't just about holding down LT, it's about schooling up James and the other linemen. Adding Finegan is the same, a cheap bet to play well, but school up Taylor and Davis, who have skills. Moreno to shore up a questionable RB situation, and school up Miller. So far all that has worked (just like that sort of thing always works).

there seems to be some great picks as well as fa signings.hard to really complain about any of them.
Albert has my vote for best new player addition to this team

Looking back there wasn't much excitement, but most of his choices look ato be paying off in the short time frame we have.

Yes.

It's been a pleasure to finally have a competent GM.

We did okay with both groups and I hope Harbaugh can form a workable relationship with Hickey.

Hickey has done pretty well both in free agency and the draft considering the hole he had to dig out of. If Philbin bombs he deserves to hire the next GM whether it's Harbaugh who agrees to work with him or if not, then someone else because I've begun to really respect his judgement - especially more than Ross'.

Clemons > Delmas in my opinion. Outside of his apparent motivate everyone and other leadership qualities he brings. Football wise, he's taken a few bad angles on plays that I can recall. Clemons IMO was fundamentally more sound.

Clemons has been out of a job for over a month now after being cut by the Texans at the end of August. Something tells me Delmas was the better option here.

Hickey looks to be a million times better than Ireland but that's not saying much. Moreno was looking like Jim Brown in his prime to us but is he really that good or does he just look that good because the rest of our backs suck so much?

So far so good with Hickey except with respect to the backup QB position but we'll need to see a bit more, especially in how he handles players due for a contract extension. Clay would have been a good candidate for an extension but we'll have to see how it plays out, and the franchise tag is definitely in play there.

Or does Moreno and our other backs look so good because the o line has played so well? Or is it the play calls spreading things out.

There's a lot of talent on this team, but more is needed. Coaching is better, but better coaching is needed and execution is improving but more is needed to be a playoff team. We have a chance, but will the players and coaches capitalize on it?

So far Albert, Colledge and Satele have lives up to expectatiins. I judge Hickey on the OL rebuild and it looks ok so far. So I'd say FA's.

I like that Hickey doesn't try to be 'too smart', but just made some common sense moves; getting the #1 LT free agent, drafting the best O-lineman still available, considering he was, and clearly is good enough to hold the fort.

It's a long season, so let's not circle-jerk it too much. Hickey didn't exactly find gold on a mountainside, he went to the store and bought some needed goods for fair market value. The Moreno sitch was gonna be great, but you can say it's still paying dividends as his effect on #26 is awesome. It's almost like he taught Miller what the job is really about. Miller is pounding it cuz he doesn't want to look like a Bia... ah, you know.

The fins do seems to have a way with quality ufda. Even Ireland found some guys.

I still wish we had gotten a LB instead of Landry in the 2nd, though McCain and Tripp might be those guys.
I also wish a better RG option would have been brought in, though Satele and Pouncey at RG could be gold if Pouncey's ego would allow it.
