Does anyone think we could snag a guy Like Al Saunders or Mike Martz at OC? I know alot of people are talking about head coaching jobs for these guys. And with the load of openings this year, there is plenty of opportunity. Do you think we could get lucky enough to bring one in at OC? I think Cameron at HC with a guy like Saunders or Martz at OC would be outrageous.

They're under contract. No.

I've followed the Redskins a little bit this year and from what I've heard Al Saunders hasn't been a miracle worker there. I've heard that Saunders has a very complicated system ... a playbook the size of a major city phonebook. I don't know if the players would be wild about it. In fact, Gibbs was saying that they were going to simplify Saunders' offense. It's particularly hard for QBs to learn I hear. Mark Brunell had plenty of problems learning it this year.

They are both under contract as OCs. If we talk to them about the same position here it would be considered tampering. Maybe give them the title "assistant head coach" or something, but if its obvious they are being considered for the offensive coordinator's duties only, we would have to pay compensation.

Yeah, I am aware they are both under contract. That is easy to get around, as mentioned above. However I hadn't known that about Saunders. Thought his system was monstrous, but I guess it would be pretty complex.

If we get cam we can kick malarkey off and let our coach handle the calls.

Yes his playbook is huge from what I hear. There would be NO WAY DC learns that playbook

Mike Martz coming here as OC would be amazing. We would not have to worry about his lack of defensive skills, and he could focus on offense alone. That would be the fastest way to turn around this offense. Heck he turned a stock boy at a grocery store into the superbowl mvp. Dante, you are next!!

You cant hire them laterally. Saunders can only be hired as HC and i'm not sure but I think Martz is the same way.

Indeed, if an assistant is under contract the team they are on is under no obligation to release them for a lateral move. Besides, I dont see either Saunders or Martz wanting to leave their current teams for less than a HC job. I mean, would you leave your job that your happy with for no real reason than to switch cities (assuming you are happy where you are)? No, you keep your job and keep looking for the promotion.

Either we will promote from within or we will go searching for some positional coach and bring him in.
