First of all, if anyone's got his heart set on going to a high school football game, he's gonna go whether the Dolphins are on TV or not. Does the NFL really think that by televising this game nationally they'll dissuade people from going to high school games they would've otherwise gone to?

I can see how the NFL wouldn't want to conflict with college games -- there's a big TV market for those, and there are only so many national TV networks. But high school games? Where's the conflict there? Does the NFL think they have the power to turn people into blind robots who compulsively stay home from a high school football game just because there's a pro game on TV?

People have the ability to choose what they want to do -- show the game and let them choose.

exactly, a majority of people that go to high school games are parents and no parent in their right mind is going to miss their own son(s) game to watch the dolphins that's why they make these devices called vcrs and tivos

there WILL be a conflict. that's why they don't have games on saturdays. the average fan, if he had to choose between a college and a pro game, he'd go with the pro one. same with high school

Except most of the people at the games aren't "fans". They are parents watching their kids play, faculty members supporting the school, and students who talk the whole time and barely pay attention to the game. Yes, there are a select few that happen to be Dolphin or Chiefs who would stay home and watch the game(such as myself), but the chances of a majority of students being Dolphin or Chiefs fans is very low(except for maybe KC and Miami where they ARE showing the game on tv). If the NFL was so worried about imposing on high school football, they should have never rescheduled the game for Friday. Most of those people that would stay home and watch the Fin game would probably also stay home and listen to the Fin game.

 I agree that most people who attend HS games our current students, family, friends of players, etc. Have you or anyone else ever met an actual "fan of HS football" who follows it passionately but has no connection to the actual school?

I actually did meet a guy like that once at a HS football state tournament. He was retired, lived in a trailor, and went to HS football games for fun. He is the one exception to the rule, and I doubt he would watch pro over high school anyway.

I am 30 years old and a die hard Dolfan, but I love Glades Central Highschool football. I graduated from there in 1994, I played football there along with Fred Taylor and Reidel Anthony and I never miss a game. We play Friday night in Jensen Beach and i will be there. I can watch the dolphin lowlights on ESPN when i get back home

Perfect example of someone making a choice. Now let me choose to watch the Dolphins game -- I won't stop this guy from seeing his high school game, nor will the fact that my game's on TV.
