Higher Picks?

Perhaps a stupid question but.... If we finish 10-6 out of the playoffs and the winner of the afc north (for example) finishes 9-7 but gets in, who gets the higher pick? We missed the playoffs but they would have the worse record? I am sure many of you know this, and I would appreciate some insight.

It is by overall finish so we would get the higher pick.

If you go 8-8 and win the superbowl, you pick last...........get it?

I figured it was something logical like that, but in todays NFL ya never know. Thanks for the info.
