I was listening to the Mad Dog this morning and they were talking about the biggest need in the off season. Mandich echoed something I think most of us have varying opions on what the biggest priority is and thought I would throw it out there for discussion.

IMO it is ILB. The defense is horrible and it starts rihgt up the middle. The only change I have seen this season is that we went from not finishing games to not starting them. We need a playmaker at ILB that can stuff the run, effectively apply pressure on the QB and help in coverage as needed. We don't have that. Watching Brian Cushing yesterday sold me on this being the position most in need of.

Obviously there are other critical needs such as WR, OLB, NT, FS and TE. In your opinion, what is the single most most critical?

I read today the two leading tacklers on the Dolphins D are 2 safties. That shows a real problem with the ILBs.

It's definitley ILB. Ayodele can be traded or stay as back up. Get McClain or Spikes alongside Crowder and that should fill a hole and improve the present D, plus giving us a great player for the future.

We should NOT get a WR in the draft. Getting a rookie and making them the #1 will backfire. WR needs to be addressed via free agency. Miles Austin pretty please?

I would say its ILB "and" OLB. I wouldn't say its a single most there. I mean, they 'both' have to be replaced with new FASTER and HARDER HITTING guys.

Yeah, we 'also' need a NT to split time with Soliai, a starting FS moving Wilson to SS, as well as a #1 WR and a big play TE, but our top need(s) is a tie with ILB 'and' OLB.

Because we need someone to be able to stop the RBs that take it outside, OLB, and stop the RBs that take it up the middle, ILB. So I'd say we need to replace both Ayodele and Porter with a draft pick like Spikes and a FA like Merriman.

Quite a change from the first half of the season when 90% of us were clamoring for a #1. Not to minimize that need but the offense is putting enough points on the board while the "sieve" we call a defense is allowing more.

Just to add a point, being specific, we need a LB that can cover, and make tackles in the open field. We have a good run D, its just the passing and missed tackles. Crowder can just about do that...just.

Crowder can't carry Cushing's jockstrap. He is horrible in applying pressure on the QB and his tackles are made down field more often then not.

He's nothing compared to Cushing, I completley agree. But getting rid of him will do us no favors, it will just leave another hole to be filled. Look what happened yesterday, he wasn't there and we got completley shredded. At the moment, he's an intergal part of our D whether you like it or not...

If we get the 12th pick or close to it, I think Dez Bryant is the guy we take. We don't have a # 1 WR and a game breaker and we really need one. I think if we pick around 18-22nd, Bryant will be gone. I would go after a guy like Jerry Hughes....I think Rolando McClain is a top ten pick so we won't have a shot at him. WR and LB are the team's biggest needs.

Catch 22

We Run A 3-4 But We Have 4-3 Linemen! Starks Soliai Mcdaniel Langford Merling All Are 4-3 Lineman, But With That Said Our Ends And Tackles Are Physical And Can Two Gap But We Need One Of Our Pups (langford And Merling) To Emerge Into A Inside Pass Rusher Like Starks. But A Lot Is Do To The Fact That We Dont Have A Linebacker Who Can Run With A Elite Tightend We Need Some Same And Wheel Line Backers Out The 4-3 To Be Our Inside Backers Ah Hell, Now We Can Rush Both Out Side Backers And Still Have Help Over The Top, Anyway Whoever It Is Needs To Be Able To Run With The Tight End,also It Wouldnt Help To Have A Do It All Outside Linebacker!

I'm of the opinion that we should tend to the side of the ball with the least holes first, and since that would be the offense, I have to say elite WR.

But yes, we are absolutely hurting for play making Backers.
