Time is catching up with the Patriots. Wilfork is probably not the same guy anymore and neither is Brady or Revis. Everyone thought that their defense would be really upgraded by Wilfork coming back and adding Revis on the outside, but they are no longer the same players.

Nice read by Volin. It does seem like he is still writing for the Palm Beach Post. Glad to see he hasn't changed his call it like he sees it style. I don't have much faith in the agenda driven media, but Volin still has my trust.

Wilfork was dominated by Smith a majority of the time. GI back and watch Satele once the run game got going. He wasn't very good blocking at the second level, while Smith dominated Wilfork.
That's probably because Ben Volin wrote it.
If Ben keeps writing things like this he won't be in Boston very long lol. I'm sure he's getting plenty of hate mail from the Pats fans and they're probably telling him to go back to Miami.
I wonder why Trent Green wasn't being as critical with Brady's ball placement as he was with Tannehill? Oh that's right...cause he's a freakin scrub.

It's early...but it makes me wonder if Satele was just in the wrong systems?..And is it possible he fits very nicely into a zone blocking type offense?
If his good play continues to we keep him at center and move pouncey to guard when he returns?
I suggested earlier in the year we utilize A 5-2 with Jordan and Vernon both in the game.
Might have something to do with the technique John Benton is teaching too. Benton did turn undrafted rookie free agent Chris Myers (the Center for Houston and former Hurricane) into a pro bowl Center.

Guards had a bigger impact on Wilfork. Satele did a good job, but look at his blocking at the second level, while the guards were able to handle Wilfork one on one.

I guess Wallace has a direct impact on defensive scheme and tendencies. Not bad for being a "one trick pony" or "a stupid player".
im feeling you there blue fin about the pouncey at guard or what not. its been mentioned on other posts in the last few weeks, if satale does good do we move pouncey to guard. guess we'd have to see how the rest of the OL is holding up. if G becomes a weakness then yes maybe, we need our best 5 on the field to open holes and keep tanne off his back. if DC and SS prove their worth at G, then Samson has to go to the bench. we still have 3 more weeks of good DL to face, lets see how the interior can hold up.

I dunno about now, but I know the Pats fans initially hated Volin because he doesn't really kiss the organizations ass (in contrast people loved him here because he never wrote with an agenda).
Too bad we lost him, I'd welcome him back here with open arms but he got a significant pay boost going to the Boston Globe.
Well when Satele was drafted a lot of experts thought his future in the NFL could actually be at LT due to his athleticism. BUT he was benched in Oakland by a UDFA after we traded him there (this is when they ran a ZBS). Could have been just one game, or it could be that Benton is awesome (either way he is)

i think the only question will be if satele is better than shelley smith at RG when pouncey gets back. you don't move your pro bowl center to guard, unless you find mike webster, dwight stephenson, or jim langer in your locker room (not samson satele). if satele can play guard, and is better than shelley smith, move him there. otherwise he goes to the bench as a valuable back up center.
