Personally, I am extremely happy about the play of Jake Long. Looking back, there is no one else that I would have drafted with the first pick. Our line is playing solid which is allowing our playmakers to do what they are paid to do: score points.

Not one single player. I was for signing Long before the draft, and, I didn't think there was any other player that was worth considering. USually, I like tradeing down and compiling picks, but, this year I was hyped about getting Jake. I'm pleased as punch.

I like the pick. I would have done the same thing especially considering how bad our O-line has been for the past decade.

I still can't believe that we picked Ginn Jr at # 9 last year though, when you add in that he was actually injured at the time it really looks like a truly, stupendously, idi0tic pick.

Tim Brown was drafted at 6 way back when he won the Heisman, Ginn will never come close to being the player that Brown was.

In fairness, you can say that about probably 80% of WRs in general. Tim Brown was a WR with a FB mindset.

If some how we got king's ransome to move down one spot I would have taken M.Ryan (only now because of his preformance on the field). I was a huge supporter of J.Long and not a basher but a skeptic of M.Ryans ability and he has proven me wrong big time.

But in no way shape or form would I not draft J.Long, he is everything advertised and more. That stupid RT talk is just what it was STUPID.

In hindsight I still look at Long as the best pick esp since Carey although good could never be an elite LT. Long has that ability. The only other guy worth that pick was Ryan who is going to be something special. I bet a poll on who is better between Beck and Ryan might even make sense on this board now.

or maybe one between Culpecker and Brees, ya think???
:D

Jake Long and Matt Ryan wouldve been nice picks... but then who would we have at LT ? i'm much more satisfied with Jake long-Chad henne than, lets say, Matt ryan-Mike Pollack (the first OT picked in second round) ...

I liked last years pick, it filled a huge need and was done with no BS. Wouldn’t change one thing about it now.

As for Ginn well I guess that verdict is still on the docket. It really boils down to three players, Ginn, Quinn and Henne. Because Miami took Ginn we do not have Quinn but we do have Henne. If Henne proves to be better then Quinn, perfect, even if Ginn doesn’t become a true number one receiver and he is used in the slot or even traded it was still a good pick.

If Henne is a bust and Quinn tears it up then no matter what Ginn does, even if he becomes a number one receiver, it will be looked as a bad draft choice because we passed on Quinn. Franchise QB’s are harder to find then number one receivers. So the funny thing about Ginn is his draft value or lack thereof has nothing to do with him now. It solely rest on the play of two QB’s who haven’t even played yet.

Funny how hindsight works isn’t it.

Totally agree...When you look at the combo of the first and second (LT and QB). Long and Henne look way better than Ryan and Pollack

Boy am I glad we took Jake Long. He is the best player in the draft.

And to think I was vying for Gholston....pffff

I'm glad we took Long

I wanted Brees also but oh well. Henne should be the guy next year but Penny is our best since marino for sure. Nobody is giving him the credit he deserves because he has a poor group of wr's and he is still shining.

I still would have kept Culpepper last year over trading another pick for washed up Trent Green.

It would have been John Grecco. Damn sure wish we could do a Mulligan on our first two picks last year. Ginn/Beck makes this years draft look like the best in NFL history.

I would have been fine with either Long this year, but, did have a preference towards Howie's boy.

I was all for Okobe instead of Ginn in '07. The DL could have used an extra body last year. Further, maybe Chambers wouldn't have been traded?

For the phins #1 pick in '09, my preferences are; George Selvie (of USF), Anquan Boldin's brother who is WR @ Wake Forest, or the CB @ Wake (something Smith).
