History shows "Win now" almost never works. Hoping Philbin will build for long term.

RZA, that's my thought as well. No real one guy on GB. Keeps the defenses honest too. Don't just have one star receiver, have a bunch of guys who can catch anywhere on the field anytime.

I really don't know what you are holding as your standard of success. The jets made it to two AFC championship games, with the "buying big name talent" plan. During that same time we were going with the "build through the draft" ol fashion plan, with what was supposed to be the best in the business at the helm. Parcells in now long gone with his plan and that fat smart mouth is still sitting up there with a brighter future than what we have.

In my opinion the team that got it right was the team doing what I said WE should be doing all year, "SUCK FOR LUCK!!!!! They are the winners, with 2nd place going to the moron from DC. If you want to win in the league you have to do what it takes to get a young great QB. They are rarely going to fall in your lap like Danny fell to us or like Brady fell to the Pats. You have to go TAKE him. Like the Broncos did with Elway, or Atlanta with Vick, or the Giants with Eli. Waiting around to where you pick in the draft and hoping you are the one holding the magic pill gets you just where we are now, constantly starting over. And it will be where we are in another 3 years as well. You heard it here first, we are going no where fast and we will be right here starting over again if this front office tries the same ol "build through the draft and hope for a miracle" plan.

Like the ol saying goes, "It takes a fool to continue doing the same things, while expecting a different result".

the core of those Jets teams came from the 2006 and 2007 drafts. The Giants and Patriots built their teams primarily through the draft with moderate FA acquisitions. The Packers and Steelers have signed one big name FA in the past decade. Getting talent in free agency is important but the best way to get success, even immediate success, is through the draft.

I think Jennings or Driver would beg to differ. They would be 1's on some other teams out there. But you're right nobody who's clear cut "the guy." I sorta like the selfless attitude over the selfish approach.

Watch that and tell me that's not how a #1 plays? We don't have anybody that could come even remotely close to that on our roster.

For once in my life, I agree with a Patriots fan.

We've been building for the future for thirteen years.

This team is never in position to be in "win-now mode" anyway because it's never any good.

Rebuilding? From what? Doesn't that imply that you were good recently? Jeff Ireland has been the GM in Miami since 2008 after being hand picked by Parcells. Four years later and we still don't have a good offensive line, a real quarterback, a #1 wide receiver, a seam-splitting tight end, a DE to play opposite Cameron Wake, a strong safety, and a free safety. People act as if Ireland was bound and gagged during the first three drafts. That's very convenient.

Dolphins want to rebuild -fine - but please for the love of god give me a QB that we can build around. It’s so strange that we have threads that talk about us acquiring Manning while at the same time talking about us rebuilding, which is it?

Really? So when Aaron Rodgers was drafted, and sat behind Favre for 3 years, Green Bay must have had a "Win Now" mentallity

Favre was their "win now" QB. Your comparison makes no sense. They had a promising back-up, something that we haven't had in 20 years, mainly because we don't have a promising starter.

Don't worry we aren't in the "Win Now" stage

Were on the 20 year plan........

So we're going to continue on the "lose now plan" thats much better

Provide some evidence to back up your assertions. The Steelers have always built through the draft, so have the Packers. The Pats core players were drafted by the organization and then they tweaked the roster with mid level FA's. Jimmy Johnson built his SB teams with a plethora of draft picks. That is FACT, not revisionist history.

I would expect FACT to mean "IGNORING ALL THE FACTS" by your Raygun avatar. All of your example teams had plenty of good FA acquisitions. Last time I checked, Welker was not drafted by the Pats. the difference between those teams and the Dolphins was that they KEPT their good players, and fostered a team playing approach. Our GM is way too arrogant with nothing to back it up.

Wow, you gave me Wes Welker. That's it, that's the best you've got!!!
You still haven't supported any of your assertions. I wouldn't expect anythng more from you. And you have the nerve to accuse someone of "Ignoring all the facts".
