History shows "Win now" almost never works. Hoping Philbin will build for long term.

Look, all you people who seem like your on the edge of a cliff. We all know about the coaching and QB carousel since Marino. We all get it, its been going on for too long and your mad or sad about it. We get it. yes we all wish it would end, jeepers!! chill out on the doom and gloom! This is the NFL, not every team is in winning dynasty mode.

Nothing however can take away from the fact that we have a brand new coaching staff with good roots and coming from a new and winning philosophy. Yes Ireland is still here but dont think for one second that Philbin and Sherman are just blindly agreeing with Ireland on every personell decision with no input. And please dont try to tell me that because Ireland is still here we are automatically doomed to fail no matter what. As far as Ross goes he is our owner and thats probably not going to change any time soon. I think he has made some mistakes as owner but his heart is in the right place and were stuck with him for the foreseeable future. I personally would rather have ross than many other owners around the league but I think he is far from the best owner. My guess is that Ireland is on a short leash with ross and this is basically his last shot. Yes I have hope that the new regime with Ireland will work out in the long run. but I think if Philbin and co do not mesh with Ireland its Ireland who will be fired first.

Gimme a break. "Win now" is ALL that works. At the end of last year, we were playing like a borderline playoff team. We went into FA with plenty of cap room and plenty of potential. Now it's shot to hell. Another three-year plan by another unproven coach. GREAT.

My feelings as well.

Wow, you gave me Wes Welker. That's it, that's the best you've got!!!
You still haven't supported any of your assertions. I wouldn't expect anythng more from you. And you have the nerve to accuse someone of "Ignoring all the facts".

Oh, that's right, they drafted Randy Moss right?

To judge our new coaching staff already is very premature. It is not their fault that Marshall punched birthday girl and I think they did the best they could with the manning situation. Ireland is pretty bad with interpersonal skills but he is far from the worst GM in the league in terms of talent evaluation and many of the early FA and draft pickups were supposedly parcells guys. Irelands track record as far as talent evaluation and finding deals post Parcells is actually not too bad. (reggie bush is an example)
People aren't judging the new coaching staff because they haven't really come to terms with the fact that this is actually is a new regime despite the fact Ireland is still here. I'm willing to at least wait until after draft to see what things look like before joining the panic group.

As others have said, NONE of this matters until we get a legitimate top 10 QB. Throw the Packers, Steelers, Patriots, and Giants around like they built through the draft. No doubt that helped. However without Rogers, Big Ben, Brady and Eli, all you will have is .....the Miami Dolphins.

Let me ask you guys a question knowing that we already traded Marshall, which potential FA receiver would you have paid this much? (list below) I am not being testy, I really want to know who on this list you would have paid this money in our current salary cap situation. Or who that is still available is worth what in your opinion?

Vincent Jackson (five years, $55 million)
Reggie Wayne (three-year, $17.5 million 13.5 up front first two years)
Calvin Johnson (seven-year, $113 million)
Pierre Garcon (5 year $42.5 million)

Did I miss any? Is it just me or were these guys overpaid in the rush to get a WR?

Ireland is the Practical Pig of general managers.

This! Manning another great example. All the Colts only draft well....no free agents...blah, blah, blah. What happens when Manning goes down, they have the first pick in the friggin draft. A franchise QB cures all. If you don't have one the best you can hope for is a Jets or Ravens type existence. Honestly it sucks.

Really? So when Aaron Rodgers was drafted, and sat behind Favre for 3 years, Green Bay must have had a "Win Now" mentallity
They were winning and playing in the NFC Championship game... Totally different situation.

Totally overpaid. Agree dude...

Look at the recent teams that have gone for a win now at all costs mentality vs teams that build through draft and smart FA moves. Look at the recent super bowl winners. Look at the hangover that the Jets are in now. Look at the "dream team" Eagles last year.

Now look at the current Miami Dolphins. We likely wont get Manning and that does not make us a "laughing stock" as 11 other teams aren't getting him either. Everyone hates the term rebuild but circumstances have forced our hand. The FO could have kept an unhappy Marshall who will likely be suspended for at least 25% of next season. We could have overpaid for splashy FA Wr's after losing Marshall but half of the FA's have issues of their own and all of them so far have been vastly overpaid for their talent level. We are instead taking the correct path, the hard slow path that actually has a chance of working in the long term. Like it or not the Philbin era begins with rebuilding. And under the circumstances this is the only logical way to go for the dolphins to try to regain greatness.

I think we are moving to a GB model as opposed to a Jets/eagles style big splash in FA win now at all costs model. Like many I was really hoping for winning now but in our current circumstances (New Coach/not getting manning/marshall problems) I think I would rather build for the future now then bring another circus situation back to Mia by trying to sign a bunch of splashy FA's as a quick fix. Like it or not the circumstances we are currently faced with which we cant change have led us to this path. The Philbin era must begin with re-building if we want a chance for the dolphins to get back to winning.

So what we have to wait until 2015 to have a chance to be good? Great

We've been building through the draft ... its no revelation or new idea ... so far, its been a losing-seasons FAIL ... AND spotty talent to show for it.

I really don't care how you want to label what are are doing....rebuilding...win now....whatever. It's all bs. Their job is to win now, period. WE have been waiting for 10+ years for a winning team and Ireland has had his chance and proved he is a failure.

Revisionist history is being done by those individuals who are just blind faithers with their favorite team.

More mediocrity coming up.

Ross is soon going to realize that many of us have become realists and won't waste money on the team for season tickets....

Greg Jennings has only recently been considered a solid No. 1 receiver. At one time, whether he was a 1 or not was debated by the media with many believing he was not.

Yes, they should pull that magic wand out of their butt and Harry Potter their way to victory.
