Well, we've seen this team do quite well against two formidable opponents. As skeptical as many of us were to start the season, we're starting to believe in this team. The P-word is not out of the question...of course, we have to take it one week at a time and enjoy the W's. But if you're Bill Parcells and Jeff Ireland, after watching a team with mediocre talent gel this way, after watching what the veteran leadership and mistake-free football from Chad Pennington has done, the way that the single-wing has breathed life into this offense, how can you not be tempted to add an offensive or defensive weapon before the trade deadline?

Again, I'm not sold just yet, but I'm starting to think we can make a playoff run - our division is fairly open and our schedule is good as long as we don't lose focus. We have shown we can beat teams with more talent by playing disciplined, mistake-free football. Adding a Roy Williams or someone to shore up the secondary (Lito?) would be pretty big. I'm not saying screw ourselves over with a crap trade for an aging and overpaid star player. But if we're looking at someone like Roy for next year anyways, let's get this done and either shore up that WR corps or the secondary with a young player who'd probably be better than what we'd get in the 2nd round next year. Those are our two big glaring weaknesses at the moment.

Our WRs have done an amazing job with the amount of talent they have - Camarillo is overacheiving, and Bess is contributing (though his fumble nearly cost us the game). Ginn is showing up here and there and would be a phenomenal #2, just not a good #1. The addition of Williams would be HUGE.

Y. Bell played lights-out today, but the secondary almost got toasted on two huge plays. Goodman got schooled on that long catch by Jackson, and V.J. was wide open for that other bomb that would have tied it, except it was overthrown by Rivers. We get another quality corner to play opposite Allen and we're in business. I don't know who that would be, as Lito is probably the only decent one who's on the trading block.

This team has a lot of holes, nobody is denying that. But they are playing with incredible fire and heart (especially the defense), and I really feel like the addition of either a dangerous WR or quality corner would make this already-fantastic season even better.

i'm not tempted, I think even as fans we shouldn't look that far ahead.

i think weve grown pretty good as unit as of right now to bring a star in in any position could possibly destroy that chemistry we have i think we should stay like this for now we are with good momentum t have to get another playter used t our system at this point is a whole nother story son

I think it's very tempting to address one of the 2 weakest spots (WR/CB) right now. We have 2 big wins behind us and could realy take advantage of what looks to be a weak AFC conference this year.

That being said.....We all expected around 8-8 at best. I said I would be happy with 8-8 this year. I will stick with that and be stoked if we reach 8-8. I hope the FO sticks to their plan. If we improved this much in 1 year, imagine what we can do with another year of the Trifecta's plan.

Everyone is going on and on about Buffalo and they have beat three lousy teams and one injury riddled Jacksonville. They got blown out by the same Arizona team we did, they are a awesome team at home and they stink it up on the road.
My point is if people want to say Buffalo are division contenders then I don't see why we wouldn't be.

I agree about potentially disrupting the chemistry. I'd just love having that big possession receiver for those 3rd and longs (and red zone tosses) - a guy that go for the jump ball and come down with it. Also, there was a stat mentioned during the game that we are 0-16 on the season on anything greater than 3rd and 6.

As for the secondary, I think if SD had taken some long ball shots earlier in the game we would have been in trouble. Of course, credit Rivers not having enough time to throw and possibly good coverage downfield, but how many of you guys just had this sinking feeling everytime Rivers launched the ball 20+ yards (twice to VJ and once to Chambers for the TD) that it was gonna be a big play?

I'm sure that's what Bill had in mind when he snatched up Wilford. Unfortunately, he hasn't shown up yet. Hopefully he will and won't be an entire waste of money!

After week 2, I thought this team would be 0-4 at this point of the season.

So, I'm going to enjoy these victories and look no further than next week.

Agree about us as fans not looking further, or the players.

But when your Parcells and Ireland, you ARE looking forward. And you can see what you have in front of you and analyze it better than any of us can, or any of the players, or even coaches. Tuna can see if he's got the makings of a playoff team in front of him. So I'm just thinking aloud (and yeah, there's no way to really know) and wondering if the big wins make BP and JI tempted to shore up the weak spots for THIS year.

I saw what you said about the secondary, and while yes those TWO plays stood out I saw an awesome performance by our secondary today. I saw Multiple knocked down passes and a team that held Philip and his 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns on the year WITH an average of about 35 points a game...GET OWNED. The D-Line, Linebackers, and secondary are gelling together to form a pretty solid backfield.

I think you play this season out, dont make any big moves and have another really good off-season with another really good draft and some good free agent pickups and were going to be real scary next year.

3 weeks ago we were hearing top 5 pick in the 09 draft. After the Patriot win I moved us back to the 11-14 range. If we take care of things with Texans and Ravens, then I'll start tossing around the idea of a playoff run.

Sparano??? Is that you??? Can I have your autograph

Seriously though I agree with you, Your statement with the way I pictured you saying it sounds just like our new head coach.

It's a looong season still ahead. As long as we take care of our business each week and pray the Pats, Bills, and Jets lose every week I think we could have a chance... but again there's 12 more games to play.
