I live in Cincy and recently heard an interview w/ Merill Hodge. The first 5 minutes he talks about Beck/Ginn. Very interesting to hear his views. Gets me to be a little more excited especially when he says Beck would beat Quinn in 4/5 categories.

About 1/2 down on the left hand side there is a link to the audio.

I will readliy admit to being very upset we passed on Brady Quinn. However, since the draft, and learning a little more about Beck, my feelings have tempered a bit. Cam 'should' know a little about quarterbacks and if he has more faith in Beck I'll support his decision.

However, I still DO NOT like taking Ginn at #9! I STILL feel there were other players at different positions, that would have helped us more, especially with the #9 pick in the draft!!!

I sincerely hope I'm wrong; time will tell.

WOW!! I've always like him too, though not always his opinion... I'm surprised on how strong he felt about Beck, which I've been impressed the more I learn about the kid! I'm ready to see him play!!

I feel the same about the Quinn situation, and also feel better as time goes by and learn more about Beck...but, I cant think of any other player than Ginn that I would have liked more at the #9 spot, maybe Willis, but we didnt need a LB, we did however, need an impact type offensive player and took the best one left after CJ and AP.

The proof is in the playing.

Remember, the post draft analysis of San Francisco taking their ENTIRE Superbowl Starting defensive backfield, in that year's draft was that it was a stupid move, and a bust draft class. We can only hope.

out of 32 draft pick in rd1 they will be about 14 to 16 bust...just like last yr if we had know that wr from saint would be that good we would of draft him in 1rd...just give it time and see what happen. who know who is the best qb quinn, russell, smith or beck

My feelings are Beck was a better pick for the Phins than Quinn. Quinn was WAY over-hyped and like Cam said... you can help an accurate QB to get more accurate, but you can't help a non-accurate one to be accurate.
As far as Ginn is concerned... I am willing to wait and see. There is a lot of potential in him and we have the coaches that can help him bring out that potential.
Cam has a plan... whether it is a good plan or not remains to be seen... but I like what he has done so far!

I never liked that Cameron line about teaching accuracy. Quinn completed something like 65% of his passes (and he was not afraid to throw a bunch away), and Beck got 70%. Factor in Quinn playing against better DBs and defenses, and I don't see a big difference there.

If you want to break the accuracy down according to distance and different parts of the field, then there might be something there, but just looking at the overall stats shows that they are both very accurate quarterbacks.

Quinn had beter recievers too

You have to consider the "better defenses and DB's" argument a wash since Quinn had better receivers too. What would his line look like without Jeff S?

And accuracy is a ding on Quinn in pretty much every pre and post draft report so this is not just Cam talking.

Our fans were flat out embarrassing to watch on TV. I know we all had expectations and hopes due to the hype surrounding Brady Quinn. But I felt sorry for Cam during the announcment of our first DP. I'd like to know when we all of a sudden became better judges of talent then the guy's that do it for a living. We will probably end up looking like Eagle fans when they took McNabb over Ricky Williams.

It's something their going to play every year at draft time forever now guaranteed and it will never get better. For that short time I was emaressed to admitt I was a Dolphin fan, not because of who we picked, but because of the reaction by the fans on national TV. They said there was something in the neighborhood of 38 Million people watching the draft this year. If Brady's a bust we'll look bad for chanting his name, If he's great we'll never hear the end of it. Lets just hope he's an avg. QB in the NFL and maybe this all just fades away.

 pretty sure they arent judging them by percentages..... they actually watch every pass they've ever made !!

i've always been embarrassed by phin fans.... they all reacted the same on the forums too.... i'd say a good 75 % of us should be ashamed. Not me tho. I don't campaign for certain players in the draft....

Stats don't tell the story. You have to watch the guys play.

If you watch both of them play look where the ball is hitting the recievers, while in stride, then you can look at your stats and know they are useless.

Wow he compared Beck to MONTANA. That got me real excited. I agree 100% what he had to say.

I am sick and tired of people saying well Beck played for BYU and the competiton was bad ... Beck led the BYU team last year to ranked 15th in the nation at the end of the year .. Beck beat more top 25 teams than Quinn did in their careers.................................................................. Not only that, but Beck played against better DB's than Quinn did.. What Secondary did Quinn face and beat that had any talent? Penn State is the only one I'll give him. But, look at the others. Purdue, Stanford, Michigan State...Come on. Were any Secondary players drafted from these teams? Will any be next year? Now, look at Beck. He faced Eric Wright (UNLV), Eric weddle (Utah), Michael Johnson and Antoine Cason (1st Round CB next year) (Arizona), John Wendling (Wyoming). Even TCU had Marvin White who was a darn good Safety......................................................................... Furthermore, look how many players were drafted from last years Notre Dame team, including offensive linemen .. And that 6 foot 4 receiver from ND who opted for baseball, many analysts predicted he would go in the first round.. That guy made circus catch after circus catch trying to catch Quinn's innacurte throws .. And that takes talent to do .
