Look, I'm just as disappointed by the loss as anyone else. I've given myself a headache yelling at the screen, and I'm pissed off at the refs for the call on Cam. Part of me, however, can't help but smile.
This has been a team I've loved to root for. People often say college football is better because there is much more passion. I can't disagree more. As a Trojan fan this year, I've had to watch a team blow games and just not give a ****. The Emerald Bowl wouldn't sting so much if the players actually seemed like they cared. What had made them so hard to root for is not that they are a bad team, but rather that they don't really want to be a better one.
These Dolphins are a whole different story. When I see Sparano jumping up and down on the sidelines, or Hartline tearing away a sure interception, I know I have a team worth rooting for. This team started 0-3 and fought back. They lost their top quarterback, running back, corner back, all borderline pro-bowlers, and kept on chugging. I don't want to sound overly happy, because I'm not. Its going to be a tough pill to swallow watching a Dolphin-less playoffs this year. I have, however, sure enjoyed the ride. This has been the most fun season of Dolphin football in a long time. Maybe these next two games wont mean a damn thing, but I can tell you I can't wait to tune back in next Sunday.
Here's to the 2009 Miami Dolphins. Bashed, bloodied, bruised, and finally knocked out in the 12th round. But hey, it sure was a fight worth watching.
